Haven in Norfolk - Caister on Sea or Hopton?

Hello,
We are planning a Haven holiday in the UK this year. We are in Scotland, and are thinking of travelling down to Norfolk in search of a slightly warmer, or at least less rainy, climate.

We are debating between these two parks - has anyone been to both and could advise as to pros and cons for these? We have DC 8 and 4. I also liked the idea of Wild Duck but is it more a camping site, rather than a caravan site?

Wild Duck is less camping in my experience and more caravan - they have camping pitches but they're not great (as someone who has done both). As a caravan site though, it's really nice.

Caister is nice because it's right on the beache whereas Wild Duck is in woodland but that depends what you like. Wild Duck is more of a subtle site, focus on woodland activities which we really like. I've never stayed at Hopton but visited once and wasn't keen.

Thank you shortytrekker, I liked the look of Wild Duck and we will have the car, so happy to drive the 4 miles to the beach if we fancy going.

Any other thoughts from anyone?

Pool at Caister is much, much nicer. (Although seashore has recently had a complete pool re vamp so is the best of the Norfolk sites in that regard). We enjoyed Hopton but liked the beach at Caister much more, it felt like you could actually walk along it more whereas Hopton the beach is separated into walled / wooden pegged segments. Hopton has a selection of funfair rides at the start of the park but the amusements bit itself is smaller than Caister.

We’ve been to all of them and Caister is definitely our fave - been 4 times. Wild Duck is nice but much smaller and pool is very basic. Feels like a tiny centre Parcs.

If you stay at Hopton don't use Hopton beach, drive the 5/10 mins to Gorleston-on-Sea... it's got THE best beach 😁

Thank you fairylea and monstermissy great to hear some reports, it’s so hard to judge from just the site photos. Sounds like Caister might be the favourite then for beach and pool. Thanks for the other beach recommendation too, will check it out regardless of which park we chose, love a nice beach!

We go to Hopton and all absolutely love it. Right on the beach, great pool and on site restaurant and easy distance from Yarmouth, Hemsby and many other places we've been going about 7years mainly for weekends this May were doing Monday-Friday in half term.

Another recommendation for Caister. We were thrilled to spot seals in the sea and there are many rabbits in the dunes.

Been to Caister year on year. Love the beach, the pool, the restaurant, the entertainment and the staff. Clean and well run park and lovely caravans. Anything you are not happy with is dealt with quickly and without fuss. Short trip to Yarmouth which is a great day out.

Thank you! Is the entertainment and facilities at Caister good?
