When you say 'beech coloured' is it made of solid wood, or is it veneered with 'beech effect'?

Put a cover over the table. Unless it's a really expensive table I wouldn't bother too much. If it's expensive get it repolished (May be covered by insurance).

No not real wood

Tell DP to get a grip.

People in the world are dying through malnutrition, disease and poverty.

There is no need to stress over a bit of hair dye on a dressing table.

Probably not a lot more you can do, then - as you've found, bleach or solvent will just burn it. If you'd put up with an uneven surface and the marks aren't big you could try sanding them off. I agree with the poster above, putting a cover on it would be a good solution.

You can buy self adhesive wood veneers and put it over the top of the table as anew surface but a covers probably easiest.

Cover it with beech effect sticky back plastic - or another pattern if one takes your fancy

A gentle scrub with cif got hair dye off my skirting board (don't ask).
