Pet names for children based on food

During DD's friends staying over, I discovered that their parent-given nicknames are all food-based!

Pudding, Pickle, Noodle and Cupcake.

Not uncommon, but I just wondered which other foody nicknames are in use out there in MNland? Can we get through all the food groups? Grin

My brother was called Teapot when we were younger, does that count?

ToDoListAddict · 09/02/2020 17:32

I called my nephew a Silly Sausage once and he was absolutely baffled at me Grin
He was like "A SAUSAGE?! I'm not a Sausage!"
Was so cute!

Showed DH my pregnancy app when I were around 5 weeks pregnant and he said the picture looked like a pork scratching. Currently got our 12 week old pork scratching asleep on my chest!

Oh and chicken

I call DD honey pie and dumpling, DP calls her muffin. She so rarely gets called by her actual name that it’s a miracle she even knows what it is

mynameisntlouise · 09/02/2020 18:00

I call my son Pudding!

Not food, but when I was little my mum called me bum-fluff! I don't know why but it worked.

mynameisntlouise · 09/02/2020 18:01

Oh I've thought of another, we used to call our son anything of the pork variety; pork-pie, sausage, porker etc.

PhoneTwattery · 09/02/2020 18:02

My Mum, who I adore, used to call me a Dozy Looking Crate Egg when she was pissed off!

EssentialHummus · 09/02/2020 18:05

It’s not her main nickname, but I occasionally call my two year old a sweet potato just to get her indignant reply: “No I’m not a sweet potato, I’m a normal potato!”

Peoplearemiserable · 09/02/2020 18:11

DS is honey bun

bibbetybobbityhat · 09/02/2020 18:13

Yep, I can see a theme here... she gets chicken pie, bean, sausage pot...

ChelseaCat · 09/02/2020 18:19

Our six week old is known as Goujon Grin

Cineraria · 09/02/2020 18:29

DS2 is Pudding more often than he is his name. I also call him my little marshmallow sometimes as he is quite soft and squishy, especially his cheeks.

DS1's nickname isn't edible, I think but as it's a fictional creature I'm not entirely certain. I sometimes call him rump steak though, as he has a big bottom but not so much since he is out of nappies.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 09/02/2020 18:34

I was always known as lamb chop - chop for short Grin

Nanamilly · 09/02/2020 18:39

Swede Head

Magpiefeather · 09/02/2020 18:42

Mine is often a Funny Onion

SD1978 · 09/02/2020 18:44

Tumshie- turnip. Then much later found out it also means someone who is daft. Oops.

CherryPavlova · 09/02/2020 18:45

Dumpling
Munchkin
Pudding

Peachypips78 · 09/02/2020 19:06

I call DS2 my little cashew nut. It's because he curls up in that shape!

Hepsibar · 09/02/2020 19:10

Honeypot
Honeybunch
Rumblebumpkin
Sausage
Plum Pudding

Hepsibar · 09/02/2020 19:12

Thought of some more
Weenybeaner and Beanyweener
Ditto with CherryPavlova: Dumpling

superdelooper · 09/02/2020 19:17

Tatey. Short for potato as she loves them.

Spaghettio · 09/02/2020 19:20

My DS is Spaghetti, Sgetti, sget, spaget. I got called it as a teenager, but I can't remember why or when I started calling DS it. But it's definitely stuck - although no one else calls him a nickname....

ThePolishWombat · 09/02/2020 19:33

I call my DCs “noodle” when they are being silly.
DS became “Spud” when he was a baby/toddler because he used to steal potatoes from the cupboard and hide them all over the house Grin
DD2 is such a pretty baby, she’s always been my little laleczka (little dolly)
