This is my last coil as I am 56 and I should have had it removed a few days ago as it had been in at least six years. Last time I had a coil out and new one put in with some discomfort but manageable.
Unfortunately despite the nurse having a couple of attempts at pulling it out at the surgery, it was too painful for me so I am to go to hospital at some point where they will try again. The pain was intense and with sharp pain at each side too and I felt sick.
Anyone else had this experience?
Also, due to my age I am not getting it replaced this time so will I get any side effects from not having any contraception at all? Like hormone imbalances or whatever. So far I have had minimal menopause symptoms, just occasional hot flushes over previous years but nothing for a couple of years now. My mum had severe issues and had to have a hysterectomy. I assumed I may have had similar issues but so far not.
I should have asked these questions to the nurse at the time but I just wanted to get out, go home and into the bath.
