When on earth will I feel normal again! I'm 3 weeks and 2 days after my first c section/birth and I'm getting impatient. Just started going walks with the push chair an I cant take a full deep breath while doing that. I used to be a runner an very fit an I'm dieing to exercise ! Google says all different people start at different times. I've lost 2 stone already from breast feeding but it's more for my mental health then anything. Help

You need to take it easy to start off with. Maybe if you got out for short walks without pushing the buggy it would be easier to build up a bit of fitness. 3 weeks post surgery is still quite early and you should not get too worked up about your fitness level yet. You need to find some patience or you could end up doing more harm than good.

Don't forget, that's major stomach surgery you've just had. Your muscles have been sliced through, the ones that help you stand erect.

Still early days. Recommend walking and postnatal specific exercise, eg Mutu System.

I was advised 12 weeks after section for running.

There was a big change after a month.

I'd had a tough time, SPD had me near housebound long before a long labour, EMCS and HDU with other complications. 3 weeks was when I first carried DS on the stairs myself when the doorbell rang mid-change; prior to that, I'd needed both hands to support myself as I was so wobbly from muscle wastage, cut abdominal muscles and generally being knackered.

I did go out walking, literally from 100m to the postbox and back to start with. At 5 weeks I got into town on the bus, at 6 weeks I began postnatal pilates and at 10 weeks I could walk a couple of miles and went to a buggy fitness class.

I'm like feeling better each day, its just my chest that's bugging me its aching but I got told part of it's my anxiety. The walk I did with the pram was 0.8 mile each way, it's just annoying being in the house all the time ! I'm not sure about post natal exercises I know nothing about it I just assumed running is light exercise. Compared to what I used to do. Guess I'll chill out a bit longer cheers guys

What sort of chest pain is it? If it doesn’t improve suggest seeing your GP. Could be a physical cause. Doctors can be v dismissive of women with mental health issues.

I have a MH issue but no health anxiety, and rarely visit my GP for myself or my DC. I had bad chest pain (not when feeling anxious, I know what that feels like) and my GP looked at my info on her computer, did no physical checks whAtsoever, and said “it’ll just be the anxiety”. Turned out I had shingles. Which presume she couldn’t have found/treated at the stage it was, but what if it’d been something worse?

Dozer · 08/02/2020 15:47

Running is quite hard on a postnatal body!

Kimdaisy · 08/02/2020 16:50

Just an aching type feeling, I think its coz I did too much yesterday/ today maybe.. I got checked in hospital by a few ecgs an stuff coz my heart rate goes really fast coz anxiety sometimes an it came out okay, I didn't have shingles but recently I had another outbreak of herpes rash on my thigh of all places, the pills made me quite unwell, but it's gone now at least
