Inspired by the combine harvester thread, my example is that DD can sing all the words to just about every Squeeze hit. She can also make ace bread sauce and is in high demand during Thanksgiving and Christmas Grin What are yours (18 GCSEs and getting into Oxford don't count)?

They know how to

Play Poker
What to do with a bitch in whelp.
Light a fire
Sharpen knives
Butcher a carcass
Pluck poultry
Shoot and fish
Rod drains
How to tell a good dog/puppy from a not so good one.
How to train a dog.
How to jumpstart a car
How, in a world full of sheep, to not be a sheep!

Geoffreythecat · 08/02/2020 09:58

That's a bit more useful than my - admittedly short - list!

DS(14) can:

Play Poker
Light a fire
Shoot well with pistol, rifle, bow & arrow
Sharpen knives
Throw axes very well
Cook very well
Knows all the words to I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General
Do great impressions of Rhod Gilbert and Moss & Roy from The IT Crowd
Deal epic (but not cruel) burns to his friends and DH
Is very polite, kind, loving and generous
Younger children adore him (he has no idea why)
Is very funny

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/02/2020 10:16

All my list caused raised eyebrows at one time or another from other parents who undoubtedly were far better parents than me Grin.

For context these were the super parents who sent their children for a day playing at our farm in brand new clothes and brand new white trainers and then were not happy with their very grubby ( tired and happy though) child when they picked them up.

ShirleyPhallus · 08/02/2020 10:17

What to do with a bitch in whelp

^ this sounds like a line from a rap song

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/02/2020 10:17

@iklboo did you read the other thread lol.

Cismyfatarse1 · 08/02/2020 10:19

Laugh uproariously when someone farts.

Eat curry with enthusiasm.

Keep drinking and dancing into the small hours (they are 18 and 19).

ippdipdo · 08/02/2020 10:23

Fit a ridiculous number of jaffa cakes in their mouth at the same time.
(yes, they were told not to do it again but lets not let boring mum spoil their fun!)

Dilbertian · 08/02/2020 10:25

One of mine gives awesome back-massages, and is training up the youngest sibling to follow in their footsteps.

And, just to demonstrate what awesome parents dh and I are, we are always willing to sacrifice our time when they need someone to practice onGrin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/02/2020 10:31

Favourite music is Alestorm, Powerwolf, Queen, Rammstein and Iron Maiden.
Favourite TV is the weird sports on Red Bull Channel
Favourite holiday is camping
They like playing with fire and minor explosions (this is actually quite controlled!)
They can use knives safely
They also like sewing, baking, reading, Lego and drawing, they have their calmer moments

DDs, 6&8

Reallybadidea · 08/02/2020 10:35

Youngest child yelling trying to find me in another room: "MAMA!". From various points around the house, right on cue, the other 3 children sang in unison "Oo-oo-oo-ooooo". It was a beautiful moment Grin

Pipandmum · 08/02/2020 10:37

It's nothing to do with me but my son has cooked his own meals and ironed his own clothes since he was 14. He wanted to lose some weight so taught himself how to cook certain meals and I never iron so he had to learn to do it.

Modwolvesrock · 08/02/2020 10:42

Reallybadidea, that is amazing! I'd be very proud Grin

BarkandCheese · 08/02/2020 10:47

My DD knows many many pop culture references, from very young she was fond of randomly shouting “no soup for you!” at us. When we saw the Angry Birds film in the cinema (two hours of my life I’m never getting back) there was what was meant to be an over the kids heads reference to the Shining, DD delightedly piped up “it’s the twins from The Shining”, (for the record she hasn’t actually seen the film).

My favourite was her spontaneous Bloefeld moment when she was 8. We were staying in a hotel, in the room was a desk with a high backed swivel chair. One morning I came out of the bathroom, as I stepped across the room the chair gradually swivelled round to reveal DD, who was slowly stroking her plush giraffe toy on her lap. She fixed me with a steely gaze and in a low, slightly menacing voice said “hello mother, I’ve been expecting you”.

Waggily · 08/02/2020 10:50

Has an opinion on the local microbreweries. He’s 4.

HandsDownRoundTheTown · 08/02/2020 10:59

DDs, 7 and 8.

Give each other spontaneous hugs and kisses when they get home from (separate) schools, with screams of delight and rabid chattering and generally act like they’ve been apart for eight months rather than eight hours! Every day.

Nothing much else but that makes my heart burst. Smile

Love all of these - nothing better than being proud of our children for all that they are.

coffeeagogo · 08/02/2020 11:00

My girls (Particularly the 8 year old) have a cracking knowledge of 80s power ballads and can hold their own on karaoke. DD1 (10) is quite nifty with a jigsaw (power tool rather than puzzle). I like to think they are getting the best of both their parents 😂

Allington · 08/02/2020 11:03

DD can fit most of her foot in her mouth...

Rumnraisin · 08/02/2020 11:15

My DS (10) can make scrambled egg on toast, wiggle his ears and do “the worm” - all in that order Grin

menopause59 · 08/02/2020 11:15

My daughter can pour a lovely double gin and lemonade when i walk in from a busy day at work

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 08/02/2020 11:16

DS discovered at the age of 3 that he could hang a spoon on the edge of his nose.

DD used to bite her toenails and could fart on command.

They are all adults but have retained their passion for fire and setting light to things with pieces of glass/mirrors on sunny days. Youngest dd was playing with a large marble and burnt a hole in Grandma's sofa at the age of 2.

Waterandlemonjuice · 08/02/2020 11:18

Mine know how to

Flag down a black cab
Book an uber
Make pizza, including dough, from scratch

Waterandlemonjuice · 08/02/2020 11:20

They also are able to quote at length from Hot Fuzz

Drinkciderfromalemon · 08/02/2020 11:21

When we leave the house, dd always replies to "I've got the key" with "I've got the secret".
