In a previous life some years ago... I studied for a Degree in Textile Design, and would like to earn money working from home by knitting/crochet/sewing for the 0-3 years. My question to Mumsnetters. Would you buy something handmade, and where would you look to buy the items? I was thinking of starting small with cardis/jumpers, and even Amigurumi toys. Thank you for any response and advice.

Yes and I'd look on Etsy. Good luck with it. 😊

I don't think anyone buys crochet clothes. Not sure about knitted items, either, sorry. Sewing has potential, though.

Thank you for the advice. Think I will have to go back to the drawing board. BrewCake

I bought some handmade things from etsy for my dc. I agree that sewing might be more popular than crochet or knitting. The things I bought were clothes with patterns that reflected the dc's interests (e.g. dinosaur stuff for girls before you could get them in big shops) or things for presents (e.g. scientist babygrows for a scientist friend).

I would work our carefully how long it would take you to make an item, the costs to you and how much you could realistically charge. Certainly for knitting I understand that the time and costs involved make it impossible to get anything real for your time.
