Could a car fit here?

Either by the side or by removing the wall?

It’s a lovely area (house needs a lot of work) but it’s only on street parking and it’s a nightmare.

Could a car fit here?

I don't think it looks like it would fit down the side - at least not if you want to get out!

Geometricprince · 06/02/2020 17:42

I think if you removed the wall it could work. Is there a dropped kerb though? If not you will get blocked in/out all of time (and you're probably not supposed to drive across a pavement)

Ughmaybenot · 06/02/2020 17:48

It’s impossible to say for sure from a photo but no, it doesn’t look like there’s a lot of space.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/02/2020 17:49

Hard to say without the measurements of the space and also what type of car.
Possibly a small car might fit with its nose in the side gap and doors to the front of it?

Seeline · 06/02/2020 17:53

If it's any help a standard parking space measures 2.4 x 4.8m, although if you haven't got a big car you could get away with slightly smaller. I don't think you have enough room looking at the photo.

PlausibleSuit · 06/02/2020 17:54

Doesn't look like it. Shame, it's a handsome house.

Her0utdoors · 06/02/2020 18:00

Is it your wall to remove?

LIZS · 06/02/2020 18:04

At an angle if you took wall down.

hopeishere · 06/02/2020 18:09

Doubt it. Also the gate at the back - is the drive shared with that house?

Looking at the gates at the bottom, is the space at the side all yours? Or us it half yours, half next door?

Also, check the rules. Round here you have to make off road parking spaces perpendicular to the road, not parallel, which would rule out doing something in front of the house.

If you knocked the front wall down you probably could fit a car there at an angle, but if you don't have a dropped kerb you'll get blocked in constantly.

BlankTimes · 06/02/2020 19:14

The neighbour to the left on your photo appears to have a gate or something on their side of that access way right at the bottom, therefore I'd investigate if it's a shared access, if it is, you'd block their access if you parked there.

MovingBriskyOn · 06/02/2020 19:16

Mrs B would never manage it

PigletJohn · 06/02/2020 20:05

Measure it.

I once wanted a large Audi, but would have needed a sunroof so I could climb out due to small garage.

You might be able to tuck it part-way into the gap but the with the drivers door outside.

QuestionableMouse · 06/02/2020 20:10

You should be able to measure the gap on Google Maps. Might give you a better idea.

Looks pretty tight to me and you'd need to consider the neighbour's access.

You may have to buy a vintage Austin 7 or a Smart car to get in there.

safariboot · 06/02/2020 23:55

You'd have to measure it.

If the entire passage is yours I think you could fit a car there, but it'd be tight. You'd have to drive or reverse in precisely and you'd end up unable to open the doors on one side of the car.

If the property boundary is down the middle of the passage, it's a non-starter.
