Also thought of one or two cubes of chocolate

You don't need a dessert. We hardly ever bother.

A couple of tablespoons of home-made fruit crumble would be naturally healthier and far better for you than a processed sugar-free thing that comes in a pot with a shedload of chemicals written on the side.

I've just discovered Skyr - Icelandic style yoghurt - and it is gorgeous. You can get flavoured ones but I like the natural one too. I serve it with fresh fruit or I always have some frozen fruit mixes in the freezer which are nice with it too. Its very lowin fat and sugar and high in protein so I think it is pretty healthy. I'm not actually sure what the difference is compared to normal yoghurt but I think it is a much creamier taste than other fat free or very low fat types.
As already suggested, something like a home made fruit crumble or rice pudding is also not bad as long as you aren't eating huge amounts every day. I would avoid artificial stuff like Angel Delight generally and I think it is better to have a small amount of real sugar than lots of chemicals. As ever, moderation is the key.

Banana ice cream. When they start to turn chop them up and freeze in a bag. When you want some just blitz the frozen bits in the blender. You could add yogurt or some dark chocolate. It has such a creamy similar texture to ice cream but no added sugars or crap.

I’m low carbing and my treat at the moment is half a bar of dark chocolate from the Aldi range where you get five mini bars in a pack.

Nuts are surprisingly sweet once you’re not eating much sugar, but don’t go over board. I have found some really nice yogurt alternatives that are gently flavoured but low carb that I’ve enjoyed.

To me, healthy means nutritious.

Sugar-free Angel Delight gives zero nutrition.

If you are looking at something that’s quick and easy which your title suggests, how about jelly with fresh fruit inside it? It’s not ideal but it’s better than the alternative.

Rushing to get out the door. Will be back later.

Medjool dates. People view healthy in 2 ways.. One way is "less calories" the other way is "nutritious". Personally I would rather eat something with more calories that is nutritious.

SallyWD · 05/02/2020 06:55

Just don't have dessert? I never do. I think fruit is the only healthy dessert. To me healthy =nutritious. Too many others healthy =low calorie so you may argue sugar free angel delight or sugar free jelly are "healthy" but they really aren't good for you and they're not nutritious. Google artificial sweeteners and health if you want to learn more.

I made flapjack recently, thinking it a 'healthier' dessert. And I suppose it is healthier than many desserts because of the oats. However, I was shocked that 1800 calories of butter went into making 9 medium pieces of flapjack- and each piece had well over 400 calories.
I found a suggestion to replace half the butter with apple purée so will try that next time... but all that saturated fat and sugar ( even if you use agave syrup) and flapjack isn't really healthy.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 05/02/2020 11:49

Ooh something I have sometimes is natural yoghurt with homemade apple or pear compote. Could also do rhubarb compote when it's in season, or berry puree (using frozen berries).
I want some now 😆

Nuttyaboutnutella · 05/02/2020 11:52

Fresh fruit salad with a bit of cream or ice cream
Banana and custard
Baked apples or poached pears
Meringue nest, berries (could use frozen this time of year) and some cream or a scoop of ice cream

BIWI · 05/02/2020 11:52

Do you not know anything about food, @Lardlizard?! Of course Angel Delight isn't a healthy food - it's a powder in a packet. And the sugar-free one is even more processed.

Very few desserts would really be classified as 'healthy' given that they're all sweet, and sugar isn't really that good for you. So you need to look at those which are the most natural/least processed, with the least amount of sugar.

Full fat, natural yoghurt with nuts/seeds, or berries would be a good one as a starter for 10.

There are no healthy desserts. Even fruit, when eaten following a meal isn't great, it sits and ferments in the stomach.

You are better off limiting dessert to once or twice a week and having whatever you fancy- the full fat and full sugar variety.

Elbeagle · 05/02/2020 11:57

Do you actually mean healthy, i.e full of nutrients, or do you mean ‘low calorie’?

Lardlizard · 08/02/2020 08:35

I suppose I ment low calorie 🙊🙊

What about one or two chocolate coated marshmellows

OP posts:
ClutterbuckFarm · 08/02/2020 08:38

OP you need to be looking at natural foods such as fruit and plain yogurts if you want healthy. Marshmallow, chocolates and Angel Delight are simply not healthy, even in small quantities.

feelingverylazytoday · 08/02/2020 08:42

No it doesn't. It's broken down by hydrochloric acid, the same as other foods.

Kinsters · 08/02/2020 08:47

Fruit, you can get lovely sweet fruits and they're still healthy (except grapes apparently).

Prepenultimate · 08/02/2020 09:25

Ah, you meant Low calorie- that is completely different from healthy.
Then my top suggestion is Muller Fruitopolis with Cherry (yoghurt)- a real sweet hit for 65 calories.
Those 5/10 calorie jellies- they're not lovely but if you're on a strict calorie controlled diet and need something sweet, they can do the trick.
