I am looking to hire someone to help us with domestic cleaning once a week or fortnightly. I am currently comparing a couple of quotes but it would be helpful to know what is reasonable to expect.
How much do your cleaners get done if they come in for around 3 hours per week?

Ideally I’d like all bathrooms wiped weekly and deep cleaned fortnightly ( 3.5 bathrooms) and all flors hoovered/ moped weekly. It’s a 6 bed three storey house

Thank you

It’s not what you asked but I have a fortnightly cleaner. She does bathroom, en-suite shower room and downstairs cloakroom. Takes her just under an hour. £12.50. She’s not very good really, but I haven’t the time or energy to find a different cleaner.

Until she left in December, my cleaner did 2 hrs ironing and 3 hrs cleaning. This is a four bedroom, two bathroom, three-storey house, so a bit smaller than yours. Dusting, hoovering, both bathrooms, kitchen worktops, sweeping and mopping wooden floors downstair. We're in London. I paid her £12 an hour.

I clean a 1 bed flat, all rooms (incl. hallway). The tasks I complete in 2 hours are:

  • Change and make bed
  • Dust and wipe all sides/surfaces and window sills in all rooms
  • Clean bath, toilet and sink plus pipes behind toilet
  • Clean all mirrors and glass
  • Do the dishes
  • Hoover and mop floors
  • Take out rubbish and line the bin

I get £10/ hour in London

Thank you all for your replies.
I’ve had an offer at £10 p/h includes all bathrooms , floors and bedrooms done in around three hours per week. I guess it sounds very reasonable.

Yes, that does sound very reasonable. I pay my cleaner 12 per hour for 2 hours, he cleans the kitchen and bathrooms, vacuums and dusts everywhere.

I have a 4 bedroom home and each fortnight the cleaner does bathroom, en suite and toilet, hoovers the floors, dusts, cleans the kitchen and floor. We pay £30 each time for this and it takes 2 hours:

Just make sure that cleaner has insurance as my experience was that the cheaper cleaners don’t have insurance and if they break something costly that ends up on you

Gatewaytochocolate, are you taking any work on? That sounds amazing ;)

We pay £45 and he does 3 bedrooms (we have 5 but he doesn’t do 2 of them), 3 bathrooms, hall, stairs, landing, sitting room, large kitchen/ dining/ play area and downstairs loo. It takes him 3 hours ish and he’s pretty thorough.

Not at the moment. I'm part time and it's a pretty exhausting job. Can't wait to leave at £10/hour. I'm with an agency though
