Are robotic vacuum cleaners worth it?

Am dithering with the idea of a robotic vacuum (Roomba or similar). We have the usual table+chairs and sofas to navigate around - are they all they are cracked up to be? I don’t want it to wind up like the bread maker and other appliance white elephants....

LimitIsUp I think it depends on the style of your furniture. We seem to be fortunate that we have picked furniture that either doesn't have a gap of more than an inch or has sufficient clearance for the eufy, it rarely gets stuck (though I've just had a notification it's currently stuck Grin).

I hate hate hate my cordless Dyson. Constantly breaking. Only had it 18months (and 2 replacements) and just bought a corded shark because it irritates me so much.

Mine was going well until it got stuck between the feet under the woodburning stove and melted. I was out of the room at the time and it was ages before it dawned on my where the smell of burning plastic was coming from. RIP Wheels.

We have Colin the Eufy here. And I love him. As does the baby who thinks he's his best friend. I need to do a tidy round before running him, but alternate up/ down stairs daily. I just wish he did stairs.

Haha, HaudMaDug - poor wee thing!

I quite fancy getting one, but annoyingly we have a step down in our open-plan living room, so I'd have to lift him down. Also, if he ever got into DD2's bedroom (we are in a bungalow) he'd soon choke to death on the discarded knickers and socks on her floordrobe. Grin

@GiantKitten 🤣🤣 Mr Max Eufy has quite a good ring to it .

@LimitIsUp
I can see how if it gets stuck under things it would be a pain .
I stop mine from getting to close to the cats bowl ( messy eater ) cos I don't want it getting cat food all over the brush's by putting a draught excluder snake in front of the bowl.
Could you use something simalar to stop yours getting stuck ?

Jeff the roomba here, love him - ultimate first world problem - the pile in the carpet of our new house was such that I was really struggling to Hoover with our upright. Jeff does get stuck regularly, but he's great, we've got 2 cats and he picks up so much.

Jimmy the Roomba is one of my favourite members of the family, I can send him a message from my phone or programme him to go round. He's easy to empty but does get stuck under one of the sofas occasionally and calls for help via the Google dot or my phone app.
He picks up so much fluff but has to be checked for lego bits,
