What little things have helped as you've got older?

I'm getting older (& have a few health issues) and an definitely feeling it. I've made a few changes to make life easier, but would be really interested to know if you've done similar/other stuff that I can also do!

So far:

I've given up heels of any kind - I'm now trainers, flat boots with memory foam insoles, crocs around the house (recommended by physio for my dodgy back)

I have a "uniform" of clothes that I know fit, look ok, have pockets & some stretch in them

I write lists to remember stuff & have as much on direct debit as possible

I meal plan wherever I can

Any other tips?

Single storey living if you can afford to move..if only my aunt and uncle did this when I asked them too in their 70 s I could’ve looked after the one left behind so much easier

Move to be nearer services, hospital bus routes, shops if you are a country dweller...we never saw my husbands stroke coming at 62 that left him unable to drive
Luckily I still can and taxis aren’t too expensive if he needs to go for an appointment and I can’t take him

Make sure you have a good store cupboard of food in case you’re too ill to get out
Do you live alone op

Try to find reliable tradesmen - I know that's not easy, but it's easier to make the effort to phone when you need a repair done.

My elderly neighbours let their house get damp because they didn't get the gutters cleared. It's important for your well-being and morale to have your house well maintained.

A handyman who will do all these small DIY jobs and maybe bigger ones too is a godsend. It makes such a difference when you don't feel the job merits a tradesman.

It also gets harder to contemplate having rooms painted so have that done if you can. Then if you can't face it when you're older at least the paintwork isn't fifty years old!
