Are "cash for clothes" places worth using or any alternative?

I've just unloaded 6 large blue IKEA bags of clothes from my loft. I'm listing the well known label stuff (Boden, Joules etc) but I have lots that are from Next, Tu, Asda etc. I haven't got time to photo and list individually but it feels like it's too good to just give away. Is there a way of getting rid in one hit without feeling like you've just given it away. I'm trying to clear clutter and recoup a bit of cash. Are any of those Cash for Clothes places any good? I've done car boots in the past but they vary so much according to the weather etc. Thanks.

I've done them a few times but you don't get much money wise. When we were moving house I took a load of things that weren't with selling individually and I think got about £7 for 2 bin bags. Enough for softplay and a coffee to escape fr packing for an hour or 2.I'd do it again of having a massive clear out but not really worth it otherwise.

I had a similar amount once and got about £3 for it. It's basically scrap cost. I believe they did used to give more. I prefer to donate to a local charity where the stuff goes direct to them at in need (not a shop) for all the money you get

If you are passing one anyway, yes. If not, you're unlikely to get your petrol money. Be warned that they will also pick through everything, so you may end up needing a charity shop or recycling bank anyway.

Mmm sounds a bit demoralizing. Car boot sales can be too. I was hoping for a quick win 🤣

Job lot on ebay?

Joyfulincolour · 02/02/2020 22:29

Ah, didn't know you could do a job lot on ebay! Do I box it up and send by courier in big batches if sold?

I dont mean to.be rude but unless you are desperate for the money please take it to a local charity. I always take clothes to the refugee centre, the first time I donated there it was snowing and people were queuing to get in. They had no coats and were wearing flip flops. It makes me feel good to know my old baby clothes are keeping another baby warm and how it might make another mum with very little feel some pride in dressing her baby in beautiful clothes.

I normally donate to a charity shop but I held some bits like Frugi and John Lewis back to sell individually. Haven't got round to it and was thinking of donating these as well. I have just seen an advert for a website called Sweetpea Preloved though. I can't vouch for them as haven't done anything about it yet but that might be the sort of thing you are looking for.

What about the clothes boxes on car parks etc, do the clothes end up where they should?
