Wedding draping

We think we have found a hall that would be perfect for our wedding reception.
I’d like to drape the walls with the white drapes you see at weddings. Is there a way of fixing this up ourselves if we buy the material, or would we need to pay a company to come in and do it?
Trying to do the wedding as cheaply as possible as don’t have a big budget.
Or other ideas for decorating/hiding the walls?

It’s a local village hall with dark blue curtains at the windows...... not the most beautiful, but a functional space..........

We did it using A marquee company. They erected a marquee inside the hall, so when you walked in it was like a marquee but without the cost of waterproofing, flooring, electricity etc. Was about £1600 though.

Draping whatever, where ever won’t make your marriage any longer or happier. It’s also unlikely to have any influence on your enjoyment of your wedding day. It will create a little bit more stress, faff and expense on top of all the other, inevitable stresses, faffs and expenses that are (almost) unavoidable when wedding planning. Just let it go.

If you can source some white voile in large quantities, you could drape it any way you want and secure it using a staple gun. You could add adornments to the swags if you wanted- ribbon, flowers, butterflies, leaves, whatever you like.

You could drape chairs too, using whatever your colour scheme is. Village hall chairs are usually fairly functional. You could add candles or flowers in jars. Mason jars aren’t very expensive I believe, or get people to save jam jars etc.

A staple gun is a very useful and speedy tool for doing temporary fixing. I imagine you, or some of your relatives will have to dismantle it afterwards, so you don’t want anything that’s hard to remove.

You cant staple gun in a village hall! They cause damage.

I have a friend who does wedding decor and she does a backdrop wall using a frame that was made with curtain poles. That's only one wall though. I've seen DIY indoor marquees on pinterest where fishing line is used to hang voile from the ceiling, but you'd still need to insert some type of hooks into the walls for that.

You could experiment with using Command strips - usually used for hanging pictures and they won't damage or mark the walls. They're pretty strong so could certainly take the weight of the fabric, you'd just have to check if they'll stick to the fabric reliably.
