DC clothes organiser for outfits for the week

Does anyone have an organiser for storing kids outfits in for the week? I'm thinking something with 5 or 7 pockets to hold outfits for each day for small DC? My DH is awful at selecting outfits, so this would mean I could sort out all outfits for the week on Sunday night. I have in my mind something made from fabric with pockets that can hang on a wall.. any suggestions?! Thanks!

I can’t suggest anything furniture wise but I’ve started putting together complete outfits for DD (vest, knickers, socks, top, trousers) and rolling the outfit up inside the trousers so there’s basically a row of rolled up outfits ready to go in her chest of drawers. It really saves time in the mornings as I was often having to hunt for a vest, then for socks etc.

That would work for me but not for hubby.

😂

He'd be all "what drawer?!?!" "How many bundles?!" 🤦🏼‍♀️

You can fold up the outfit -

Lay top down (face down). Fold trousers pants and socks on top of the top. Fold the sleeves and bottom over the innards.

Voila one packaged outfit.

Alternatively- a drawer of 7 pairs of leggings, 7 tunics/dresses, 7 pants, 7 knickers. Done.

I used a clothes hanger, always hung up complete outfits inc tights (had girls) DH managed to sort out nappy/pants on his own Grin

Another way to do it would be to stick each outfit onto one hanger and put a row of hooks on the bedroom door to hang them on.

(I did this with DD’s outfits over Christmas when there were well-meaning relatives around dressing her some mornings and there were particular outfits I wanted to make sure she wore and with the coordinating tights etc.)

Shosha1 · 01/02/2020 21:23

What about one of those fabric shoe holders that you can hang on the back if the door.

Oldraver · 01/02/2020 21:24

You need a chester (5) drawers

What does he do that is awful? I mean, selecting the correct items of clothing for a person to wear isn't difficult for a person who is neurotypical and doesn't have additional needs.

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:25

I need to be able to designate particular outfits to particular days, otherwise DC go to nursery in their best clothes, and are dressed in older paint stained clothes at weekends 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Some thing like this. You could write childs name and dats on each pocket. Roll each outfit together then pop in .

How old are the DC? And is it important what they wear? If not I would just leave it for DH to decide. As above put underwear in one drawer/shelf, tops together and bottoms together. All he needs to do is take one from each section.

Basically if he is an adult he can manage this.

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:28

Our nursery does a lot of messy play so things get stained. He dresses them in good clothes by accident on nursery days and all the nice stuff gets wrecked or lost

Keep nursery clothes in a separate room.

Ours live in a wheely trolley in the utility. Up, teeth, toilet, dressed. They have breakfast at Nursery.

Weekend clothes live in their wardrobes.

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:29

Unfortunately I don't have a spare room to use for storing kids clothes.

Canvas shelf/shoe storage hanger, goes into the wardrobe. (Something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Hanging-Wardrobe-Storage-Organiser-Spacesaver/dp/B00HRC15NU)?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 That would give you mini-shelves that you can use for each day's outfit.

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:30

No utility, all other house space is needed. No where other than bedrooms for clothes storage.

Yes, this was my issue too! I bought a set of canvas drawers just for nursery clothes. They’re small, but big enough to fit ten rolled up outfits.

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:31

The canvas shoe holder looks great but no wardrobes, only drawers. Will see if I can put a big hook in the wall so we can hang it up

CommunistLegoBloc · 01/02/2020 21:31

Men are only this useless because those around them enable them. By looking for solutions like special storage rather than explaining where the good clothes / messy clothes are kept (once, he's an adult with a functioning memory) and moving on. This willful incompetence boils my piss.

HeyMac · 01/02/2020 21:32

I thought about that and then realised that DH needed to get it together. He can dress himself and therefore should be able to elect an appropriate outfit. DC was soon big enough to voice opinions!

INeedNewShoes · 01/02/2020 21:33

Ikea flarra drawers

greentomatos · 01/02/2020 21:33

@INeedNewShoes

🤣 I feel your pain.

I like your hanger idea too. Might try that. Will need to put a rail/hook on the wall to hang them from but that should be possible.

How about something like this... we have a similar system for school uniforms (Not my picture)

I’d like to point out that I didn’t go to these lengths because I have a useless DH. I’m a single parent. I just needed to save time faffing about on nursery mornings!
