As per title! Opinions please!

Because there's almost certainly nothing wrong with it and it's wasteful of the planet's resources to bin good food.

The thing with tinned food is that it's a tiny risk, but the risk is death.

Bluntness100 · 01/02/2020 17:47

Because there's almost certainly nothing wrong with it

It's the "almost" in there that's worrying people...🤣

Muminabun · 01/02/2020 17:49

I don’t know about this op. I had an incident some years ago with a tin of gone off grapefruit segments.........

TulipCat · 01/02/2020 17:50

I wouldn't. One year maybe, but four is pushing it for me.

Right well I made a pineapple upside down cake. The tin was too large so it's disappointingly flat but it tastes delicious. It's been an hour or so since I ate a slice and so far so good... Wondered why I just didn't chuck it and realised that I wanted to eat it as I bought it pre-divorce. It even moved house with us! And it's been baked in a much happier household which makes me feel good. Ooo profound... It's been a big day. Thanks all for being there for what's turned out to be quite a healing activity GrinConfusedBlush

Rejoicing In Pineapple?

Yep. In my house it’s all about the sniff test. So lm sure it would be fine

katy1213 · 02/02/2020 03:44

As long as the tin wasn't blown, you'll be fine.

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 02/02/2020 04:02

Botulism, or more accurately the byproducts of botulism that kill you, isn't destroyed by cooking. Have fun

I can't imagine that botulism would thrive in a can of pineapple? It's a high acidity food.

I'm more than happy for someone to come and correct me on that though, as it's been a long time since I studied this.

changeofname0987 · 02/02/2020 07:29

Well I made it through the night and here's the disappointingly flat though delicious cake. It's actually a pineapple butter cake made with hibiscus sugar

Why did it come out so flat?

changeofname0987 · 02/02/2020 09:22

Tin was too big

Your alive, that’s the main thing !

OvenGlovesWillTearUsApart · 03/02/2020 00:35

Looks delicious!

The first cake I ever made “by myself” when I moved out was a pineapple-y effort. Ruddy nice it was too.

99problemsandthecatis1 · 03/02/2020 03:45

It just doesn't occur to me to check the use by of anything but meat. Especially dried and tinned stuff!

You've made me want pineapple upside down cake now!

kiaorasvetlana · 03/02/2020 04:45

If it jumps out saying I'm going to eat you then perhaps not as it might want a nice meal if semi digested stomach lining.
