Kids 5/9
We aren’t really Disney people more than anyone, but figured the kids would LOVE it
Is DLP a bit like say Alton towers does it need to be Orlando for a fantastic experience
Would be October and looking at costs and options atm but seems a whole other crazy world of language I don’t understand!!
Thanks

DLP is much smaller, but I did find it more intense than Orlando as we went with the specific intent of being at Disney, whereas with Orlando Disney was just a small part of our holiday. I'd go back to either in a heartbeat but I do miss the blue skies and wide open space of Florida, sigh ...

DLP was quite frankly a let down when we went, if you're full on Disney fans I'd do Orlando.

DLP in October may be cold and wet. But a quarter of the price of Florida. And more manageable travel wise if you have youngish children or reservations about long haul flights.

I love DLP. I've been many times over the years and find it manageable and enjoyable. It's much smaller than Orlando and only has two parks. Although they are both Disney and have some of the same rides, to compare them is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. You'll have totally different experience at both but they're both brilliant. Bear in mind that October at either place can be really busy as Disney go all out for Halloween.

DLP is nice but it is nothing compared to Orlando. I would always advise WDW Florida over DLP; it’s bigger, better, there’s more to do and it’s more immersive too.

DLP is small and there’s not much going on.

Just don't do the vile dolphin torture in Florida.

tilder · 31/01/2020 22:29

Sorry. Posted too soon. Lots of the Florida Disney tickets are a package. So you buy entry at several places. Some of them are dubious to say the least if you care about marine mammals.

Sausagis · 31/01/2020 22:31

I loved DLP. It has NOTHING on Orlando, which is in a whole other league. For enjoyment AND price!!!

LennyPugGoat · 31/01/2020 22:32

How tall are your children? I’d wait to do Florida once everyone was tall enough to attend rides together.

Id also miss doing the package of every day visits when staying off site, you need rest days plus, the hotels are amazing and worth a day or two resting on their own.

SquareOnTheHypoteneuse · 31/01/2020 22:34

There is no comparison between DLP and Orlando.
DLP is a couple of days, Orlando is a couple of weeks.

DLP is so much easier to get to, and cheaper by far. We bought DC when they were about 7 and 9 at Halloween and again after Christmas when they were about 9 and 11. Loved it. Yes, it was cold but we wrapped up well and were up in the park from about 8 am each day, sometimes until closing time. It was amazing. Early entry to parks only if you stay in a Disney hotel, get in before the real crowds. The rides are spectacular, there is something to suit all levels of adventure, and at those ages the DC enjoyed meeting the characters and watching the parades. The food is fine in the hotels, but poor in the parks but you won't starve. There is a Disney Village that offers a wide variety located between the Disney Hotels and the Disney Parks

We went to Orlando last year and DC agreed with us that we'd only do Universal Parks as so many of the Disney rides were the same in Orlando as the ones in Paris.

If you're not that bothered about the "Disney" experience you could look at Gardaland near Lake Garda in Italy or Port Aventura in Spain for fun in the sun.

CormoranStrike · 31/01/2020 23:05

Orlando is MUCH better

sweetkitty · 31/01/2020 23:09

We’ve been to DLP and are off to Orlando in July kids are all older now, eldest will be 16 youngest 10. It’s costing a fortune but feel it’s a once in a lifetime holiday.

Cuddling57 · 31/01/2020 23:11

Do DLP this October. If you enjoy it go Orlando the year after Grin
