Hi

Just wanting to know if you would attend a kids party on Mother’s Day at lunch time?

Thanks

Yes. It’s not something we celebrate (same with Fathers Day).

Yes, we don't do anything special other than a card/flowers. MN was the first time I realised it was a whole day thing for some people!

Yes.

We had a whole class party for DD on a Mother's Day - it was also DD's proper birthdate - and everybody came. I had really expected a bit of a lower turnout! Although it was a drop-and-run party, so perhaps the Mums were glad of the break.

I would as can't think of anything worse than doing something for mother's day or valentines day along with everyone else.

We’ve been to a party on Mother’s Day before. It was my daughter’s best friend’s party and it just happened that her actual birthday fell on Mother’s Day. It was a cinema party so we all went along and I sat with my other child and my husband a couple of rows back from the party and enjoyed the film myself!

My family (as in the one I grew up in) have never been big Into these kind of days so I don’t go and spend the day with my Mum...I send her a card and a bunch of flowers and call her on the day and that’s it. For me, I would be very happy with the same...a card, a bunch of daffodils and coffee in bed is perfect and then the day goes on as usual. So if one of my children got a party invite on that day it wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Father’s Day is a different matter entirely. My DH’s family have always made these days a huge thing and he generally expects a whole day planned for him Hmm He would be seriously annoyed if a birthday party fell on the same day. My son had to play in a football match one Father’s Day and DH was so pissed off that he suggested that we postpone our Father’s Day celebrations until the following weekend so that the football match didn’t interfere!

So in answer to your question, some people will mind and say no, and others will be fine with it. Personally, if it was me I wouldn’t arrange a party for my child on a day like that as I would want them to have all their friends there and I think you will get more declines than usual.

Thanks everyone.....I’ve booked something else for the weekend after!

No I wouldn't. My DS's birthday falls around Father's Day so I make sure never to do his party on the same weekend.

I unwittingly booked a party for DD on mother's Day, most people came, one person was late but it was mid afternoon.

I wouldn't do it again.

I'd send my kids to a party on mothers day...I'd enjoy the peace and quiet Grin but I think others think differently and want to actively celebrate.

I definitely wouldn't host a party on mothers day.

My oh would have usually planned something for me to do with our young children, so probably not
