My smear results came back abnormal and that there were some abnormal cells present, I've been referred to have a colcoscopy and a biopsy, has anyone else had this and what was the outcome? This was my first smear and I'm kicking myself I didn't go sooner

Had this a couple of times. Cells were zapped off, no issues after.

Thanks Mabelface

25 yr old daughter had this with her first smear. She had the colposcopy and had been advised to have another smear in 12 mths.
Hope all will be ok for you too. Daughter said the procedure wasn’t too uncomfortable

Yup, I've had this. Had to have a colposcopy and then a loop excision to remove the abnormal cells, was slightly unfortunate to be in the 1% of people toneed another loop excision with a wider margin 6 months later, but have been totally fine for 12 years with clear smears. As the colposcopy nurse told me as soon as I walked into the room, you're in the system now and whatever it is, they'll sort it.

I've had this a couple of times. Had a colposcopy and had to have yearly smears for a while then went back to normal smears after that.

I had this also around 4 years ago. I had CIN3 which is the last stage before cancer. I am 35 now. I had colposcopy and then a loop excision to remove the bad cells. I had a smear 6 months later and it was all clear, one again a year later, that was also fine - im now back up to smears every 3 years. Try not to worry x

Thank you everyone, I will try not to worry Smile
