Always had a lot of respect for him
He was in so many programmes when I grew up.
One of those people you’d think would be around forever.
Aged 96, I hope you had a good life, you brought a lot laughter to mine.

I was sad to hear the news too. I mean, it hardly came as a shock at his impressive age, but he always came across as a decent charming man. His banter and teasing were always good-natured and never unkind.

It might sound silly, but I always really liked the way he insisted on acknowledging Ian Messiter for coming up with the game at the end of each programme. I'm guessing they probably became firm friends from a long time ago and Nicholas was determined that his old pal shouldn't be forgotten.

I couldn’t believe he was so on the ball during “Just a Minute” into his 90’s.
He was outrageous in The Rocky Horror Show, really funny.
A real pro Flowers

Gosh, I’d have guessed he was only about 80!

He did what he did well, and always seemed like a lovely man.

RIP Mr Parsons

Always funny and kind, never cruel or cutting or sharp. A proper gentleman with manners. And a lovely voice.

My dc loved just a minute and we listened to it rather more than I might have wanted to.
But Nicolas Parsons always seemed very like able.

Loved him in JAM. Such a gentleman and obviously loved by all those who were on the show. RIP Mr Parsons.

Does anyone remember a story where a woman was being attacked on land near his home..either Hampstead Heath or Highgate common and either he went to her help or she knocked on his door and he helped her

That’s stuck in my brain for decades but I can’t find anything online

His autobiography is half price on the kindle at the moment.

CormoranStrike · 29/01/2020 19:10

He was a legend of the airwaves.

Deathraystare · 30/01/2020 14:50

He was great!

@Dowser, he personally helped a friend of mine out in Golders Green area and asked after them afterwards. She was amazed he took such a personal interest & was do kind & compassionate. He clearly was as lovely in real life as he seemed on radio.
