How best to complain about a dentist?

Any advice please on how to complain about a dentist who has repeatedly missed a condition in my elderly mother which now means a hospital visit and surgery? Patient records were also wrong so the dentist believed she couldn't have the issue that she has as her records show mum had the teeth out when she didn't!

How do we make sure the dentist is obliged to get some training and this doesn't happen to anyone else?

The practice manager or, if a large organisation the Manager of the Group. Then as per their website/ leaflet. Depends if NHS or private. They are required to advise you of the complaints process including escalation in their response.

Firstly the practice, so the practice manager or principle. This should resolve it. Tbh I would imagine a good dentist would already be doing some training in this situation

I don't understand how the dentist can think the teeth had come out if they were in the mouth!

It does depend though what they've missed, first port of call is the practice

You can write to the GDC (General Dental Council)

You can find all their info online as well as the full name of the dentist, their GDC number and their practice address

Yes. I wrote to the practice manager who called a meeting. After the meeting she sent me the minutes but I disagreed with them. They then refunded all the money for my treatment (£2700).
