Really comfy bra

I haven't bought any new bras for ages but my current ones are now very old and falling apart. I've always found Ultimo bras to be really comfy but I've just realised that the brand has disappeared! Can you recommend any other bra brands please? I'm a 38DD, I need good support and like wired bras. Thanks!

I was going to suggest a small Scottish brand called Molke. They are wire-free but offer amazing support (I'm a 32GG and love them!) and all ethically made in Scotland. They have an active Facebook group with lots of advice.

When was the last time you were properly measured?

Flowers18 · 28/01/2020 23:17

Last time I was measured I was bloody 14 ha

Very different from molke's approach, but I'd vote for good old Doreen from Triumph. Until today would have said that Doreen it doesn't exactly look sexy but Molke have revealed a whole other dimension in avoiding undue prettiness.

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/01/2020 23:41

I love my M&S underwired tee shirt bras. I bought a Molke recently for yoga classes, its good for that but gets uncomfy after a couple of hours and is extremely unflattering.

Prima Donna Madison full cup bras. I was a bit hesitant due to the price but they are SO supportive and give you a great shape! Price per wear makes them worth it.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/01/2020 23:57

Believe it or not some of the Ann Summers bras are really comfortable. I also like the fit of some of the Tesco florence & fred bras (I am a 38E). Bravissimo do a good range for larger cup sizes.

Tango balconette bra by panache. Lots of colours and v comfy to wear

Grin I know they are well liked on MN, but they are very matronly aren't they.
jcurve · 29/01/2020 23:04

Those Molke bras are horrendous & look like they’d give you the shape of two bowling balls in a marble bag.

I have been wearing Sloggi Zero Feel bralettes & I’m a huge fan. They give a nice shape under clothes & have been very kind to my hypersensitive IVF breasts.

Ginfordinner · 29/01/2020 23:09

Good luck with your journey jcurve

AnotherEmma · 29/01/2020 23:12

Are you really a 38DD?
What size tops do you wear?
Unless you're a size 18 or thereabouts, I think you're probably wearing the wrong band size.
Try booborbust.com/
And then get yourself to Bravissimo!

AnnaMagnani · 29/01/2020 23:15

If you like good support and wired bras I am doubting you are a 38DD as it is such an odd size.

Even if you were a size 18, it would mean you had really small boobs.

I'm a size 18 and a 34H.

CatsMother66 · 29/01/2020 23:21

Prima Donna deauville. I can’t wear anything else. Great support and so comfortable, cheaper on eBay.

Shopaholic100 · 29/01/2020 23:23

Don’t buy M & S! I’m the same size as you and always worn them, but recently had one which caused bruising because the wire was 2cm shorter that the bra cup. I sent it to them and they said it was because it just didn’t fit me right, even when I sent pictures showing them the wire was too small. I even showed them pictures of others in the same size which had full sized wires but they didn’t seem too bothered about quality control and I received a generic response. I’ve only worn M & S bras for the last 30 years but the quality is no longer consistent, another one the stitching was so bad it just fell apart after a few uses. I don’t think I’m buying any more from M & S.

Shopaholic100 · 29/01/2020 23:25

Is Bravassimo any good?

AnotherEmma · 29/01/2020 23:25

Yes otherwise I wouldn't have recommended it.

KenAdams · 29/01/2020 23:26

I only wear the Freya Deco

AnotherEmma · 29/01/2020 23:27

Honestly my first trip to Bravissimo was an absolute revelation. If you book a fitting they take lots of time ensuring you find a bra you like that fits properly and comfortably.

The bras are more expensive than M&S. I have fewer bras but they fit me properly and make my boobs look great!

Notthebloodygym · 29/01/2020 23:29

Bravissimo "candy bliss" or "sugar candy".

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/01/2020 23:31

Bravissimo fitted me very badly, I definitely wouldn't recommend them.

Shopaholic100 · 29/01/2020 23:31

Sounds like I might need to try them. Better to have a few which don’t poke or break on you

AnotherEmma · 29/01/2020 23:35

Actually Bravissimo have occasionally fitted me in bras which I found uncomfortable when I wore them for longer, but they have always been good about returns.
I find that some bras have rather brutal wires and when I explained that to the fitter she found me some with slightly softer wires - Bravissimo own brand are good.
