Baby with tonsillitis. How much time off??

Baby (well, 13 months) was really really sick with tonsillitis.

He had MenB vaccine on Friday and the same day he started spiking a temperature. I assumed it was the vaccine so didn't take him to the doctors until Monday morning when he started really going down hill and I was struggling to get his temp down.

The GP and I were teetering on the edge of sending him the children's hospital because he was so bad ☹️

Anyway, he had a full day of AB's yesterday, and we seem to just about be able to get his fever under control.

In the night when the ibuprofen wears off, he spikes at about 39 (so he was spiking at 2.30am, gave him meds but it didn't go down until 4am).

He's happy-ish but you can hear the obstruction (noisy breathing, open mouth, dribbling) hardly eating or drinking.

Obvs he's off the CM and I'm off work.

At what point do I go back?
When the temp stops spiking?

You poor thing, that sounds horrible. I would say that as he is reliant on the ibuprofen to control his temperature he needs to stay home until he's at a normal temperature. In my experience antibiotics kick in quickly and he will start to get better very soon. My son's nursery would take them if they were on antibiotics as long as they weren't reliant on ibuprofen or Calpol to get through the day.
Lots going round at the moment and it's very hard to manage when you're back at work and juggling lots. Remember to be kind to yourself and get some rest if you can. The first winter of childcare is always the worst but it does get better!

Ok that's a good plan - when not reliant on pain relief.

Thank you, I totally can't see the woods for the trees at this point.
