SLEEP - has anyone really got their act together after being rubbish? Please encourage me!

I know this will sound totally stupid to a lot of people, but I really struggle to organise myself into bed at a regular time, and I am chronically underslept pretty much all the time. I work shifts and am out of the house for 11-12 hours a day, getting home at 6.30 - 21.45, depending on the week. I can't catch up via lie-ins since having DS (now 11). I know what I need to do, but find it so hard to prioritise sleep Sad

I spend less time asleep than I do at work, and it's slowly killing me. Has anyone else been like this for years, and eventually cracked it? TIA.

I’m similar. I’ve got a baby and 10 year old so I’m up through the night with the baby and my older son wakes me in the morning so I need to get off to bed earlier but I watch tv or read crap on my phone till 2 sometimes even when my baby is sleeping. I guess it’s just about prioritising bedtime and turning devices off and trying to get into a bedtime routine the same time every night. I’ll try this soon and I’ll be reading for good tips hopefully

Why can't you have a lie in with an 11yo? Unless he has sn, can he not get himself breakfast and entertain himself for a few hours?

I do get the odd lie-in on a Saturday and at Christmastime, tbf, but I don't see enough of DS in general and I work some Saturday mornings too. Sunday mornings we have an exercise class we do together, and I would be loathe to give that up as it's really fun and it's the only time of the week I can commit to a regular activity, again due to my shifts and commute.
