I'm 45... is this arthritis?

I've always had a low back problem but the last few months I've developed a stiff and clicking neck at times, sore upper back, always had one clicking knee but now have two, and a sore wrist. These come and go. I'm 45. Is this likely to persist from now on? I'd appreciate to hear if anyone has similar.

Anyone have any advice?

Same age here. I would suggest the gp for a blood test. Low vitamin d is very common and low iron also can cause joint pain.

The fact it’s worsened over the winter months when your vit d stores will be low and not being replenished is possibly significant.

My knees had become achy but after getting my vit d levels up, they are fine

I thought I was developing arthritis 5 years ago, with aching joints, very sore feet, stiffness and neck/backache.
When I did a gluten-free trial for a couple of weeks all these symptoms (and the bloating which had caused me to try going gluten-free) disappeared and I felt mobile and agile again. Have now been gf for about 4 years and it's worth the hassle to be without the aches and pains.
Worth a try?

Keep a diary of the pain.
Give yourself a little 'scale'

  1. A bit sore but j can ignore it up to 10.
I have had every type of pain killer I keep in the house, hot water bottle... everything else and it is still keeping me awake.

Arthritis usually has a previous cause to start the damage.
I broke my my ankle 10 years ago. It never healed properly. I have arthritis in it now.

In your diary, keep notes throughout the day.
Typical day for me is

7:00. Wake up. Stiff and sore. Pain 6 or 7
8 :00 moving around the house, painkillers, warm socks and breakfast.
Pain 3
9"00 school run. Pain 3-4 in the cold or rain
10 :00 at work. Sitting with little walks , warm and dry. Pain 1

... ...

10pm bedtime.
Legs tired, pain 5. Last pai killers for the day.

More pain after being immobile for a while (night, sleep) could be a sign of arthritis.

Keep your diary for at least a week and see your gp.
