Replacing kitchen doors rather than the whole unit?

Has anyone done this?

We are trying to keep the cost down.

BUT diy kitchens pontefract don't have the right size, everywhere else I've looked has the right width but not the right length.

It's turning out not to be as simple as I thought.

Is this actually doable? Has anyone done it?

Have you tried online or the kitchen door people? Can’t remember their name.

Just looking into this now. Wicked said cheaper to replace whole kitchen. Homebase much more reasonable. Now considering painting doors.

We did this along with replacing wo,rktop and it looks like a new kitchen.it cost 2k , this included a new sink and taps so I thought it reasonable. They were very quick it was all done in about six hours.

We did; we used this company - the doors were made to measure. It's certainly given the kitchen the facelift it needed.

Do you know where the original cabinets came from? You could then try there.
Ikea do kitchens aswell. You could just change the handles and paint them if in good enough condition.

I'm planning on getting my kitchen doors resprayed. They are a shaker style door and the paint has started coming off the inner ledge. Should have gone for a plain door with easily washable surface. It's supposed to be a functional room not a pretty room (Angry at the me of 12 years ago who chose this silly design)

TheNoiseHurts · 25/01/2020 18:18

Who did @vickibee? I'd love it if someone else could just come and do it, if it didn't cost the earth.

We have just moved in and the previous owners are very elderly and very unwell so we can't ask them. The kitchen is also very old, I doubt they would remember.

Thanks for links I'm going to look now.

We've literally just done this last week with two of our units and they look fab. Found a local independent fitter. He had to cut one of the doors to size because it was an ancient mismatched non-standard kitchen to start with, but you'd never know to look at it. He's done a fantastic job - it all looks brand new.

I used Dream Doors, I think it's a franchise.

They changed all the doors and tidied up the edges and any gaps. They will do as much or as little as you want, not just the doors.

I was on a budget so was pleased with the result for relatively little upheaval and cost.

A company called starlight kitchens but they are local to Sheffield. They were really professional. All our cupboards were unusual sizes so were custom made. We kept the original cabinets

We used a local independent company, they were much cheaper than the chain stores, it cost just over £600 and I fitted them myself.
