Anyone else's child hate sitting in their highchair?

DS has just turned 1, he's always been the same tho- I have to put him in his highchair at the last minute otherwise I just get screamed at. Also once he's finished his food (most of which does t get eaten and just thrown on the floor) then he's screaming at me again to get him out of there highchair.

Anyone else the same? How do you cope? I feel like I'm constantly being heckled!!

We bought a Tripp-Trapp. The intention was always to eat together so it was just a case of sooner rather later.

He's 15 now and we only recently sold it as he is such a rock god that he no longer sits down to play guitar Grin

My DS (about to turn 2) has had his moments with his high chair ever since he was capable of expressing an opinion. Maybe 10% of the time he'll get into it and sit there long enough to eat a decent meal. More often than not, though, he'll totally refuse to get into it and insist on sitting on my lap, or sitting at his little toddler table / chairs, to eat. I think what you're experiencing is probably not that uncommon.

I hate highchairs.
When they're very little they eat on my lap or at the coffee table or on the floor.
As soon as they're big enough they kneel on the dining chairs and eat there.
Never understood why people have the monstrosities

Yes a tripptrapp sorted that for us. 17 years of constant use! It grows with the child and they sit at the table. We can all sit on It so it's shelf life is a lot longer than a standard high chair. Plus they cannot tip it back.
