Going to ice hockey games, geocaching is great for fresh air and keeping kids interested while enjoying the outdoors, cycling in good weather and family roller skating sessions for us.

permanentlyfrazzled1 · 24/01/2020 18:56

Geocaching, Treasure Trails - cost £10 per trail but well worth it - cycle ride round our countryside block, Escape the Room box game (expensive but we do them as a one-off treat few times a year), walk and picnic at a local National Trust venue, play board games - currently obsessed with various ‘Ticket to Ride’ games, ‘Democracy’ and ‘Risk’ - brisk walk on the beach followed by fish & chips, go to church on a Sunday morning.

What age are the DC?

Dozer · 24/01/2020 19:06

DH and DC like outdoorsy stuff. I like craftsy stuff.

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/01/2020 19:07

We have ponies and chickens so looking after those, sometimes riding. Swimming. Baking. Woods (The trails at forestry commission sites)

Dc are 3 and4 though so young.

PhantomErik · 24/01/2020 19:20

Dog walk on the beach/at the woods.

Park, with a picnic in good weather.

Bike ride

Sometimes cinema, roller rink, trampoline park but not often.

Arguing about going for a walk
Spending twenty million hours saying, “we’re going for a walk in a minute!”
Not going for a walk
Three standard weekend activities here Grin

docemmett · 24/01/2020 19:24

Cinema, library, we've been spending a lot of time playing with Christmas toys recently, baking, visiting charity shops for new to us books

SleepDeprivedElf · 24/01/2020 19:25

Going to museums and galleries, going to parks, going to the cinema, getting pizza out

ForestYeti · 24/01/2020 19:32

National trust, bowling, cinema, pyjama days now & then

blackcat86 · 24/01/2020 19:33

Soft play, sunday roast and a film, meeting up with other families with young DC for play dates, park, visiting relatives, going out for lunch. DD is 17 months so we do things she will enjoy (won't scream through)

MoMandaS · 24/01/2020 19:48

DS1 has chosen recipes from his children's cookbook to make for Saturday tea, which we will all make then eat while watching a film. On Sunday we might do something related to Chinese New Year. They like having little 'parties' where I do party food and they play party games and have a mini disco.

OhMyDarling · 24/01/2020 19:50

Long dog walks- forests, countryside, nearest beach if we are up early enough

My friend lets us borrow her Netflix once a month for a movie marathon so we get popcorn and wear pjs

Bluewavescrashing · 24/01/2020 19:57

Pub lunch at a carvery
Making pancakes at home
Watching a new film with popcorn
Going out to mini mornings at the cinema
Walk on the beach and coffee & cake at a café
Taking bikes to a country park (I don't have a bike so I sit with a flask and watch DH and DCs)
Trip to the zoo as we have annual passes.

DCs both have clubs on Saturday mornings- sport and music- and often one of them has a party at a trampoline park or soft play hell etc. But we always do something as a family. I try to get all the housework done during the week so we can relax. They are allowed a fair amount of screen time as they work hard at school but I make them help with tidying, help DH in the garden if he's got jobs to do, etc.

ScouseQueen · 24/01/2020 20:19

We have regular sporting commitments at the weekend for DC and also visit family. Otherwise we do
Films at home with popcorn
Meals out
Cinema
Walks or cycling weather permitting
Chill time at home reading, listening to music, making things or playing board / computer games

Bluewavescrashing · 24/01/2020 20:21

My DCs also love crafting at home. Currently fimo modelling clay and watercolour pencils are popular. They also love decorating cupcakes and were given baking supplies for Christmas, so we are all stocked up.

Stravapalava · 24/01/2020 21:24

My DC love games like Uno and Top Trumps. They can play by themselves if we're doing stuff, but we usually all play. They also like jigsaws, playdoh, fuzzy felt and they can play imaginary games for hours, going in and out of the house (we live in a small cul de sac so they're safe.)
