What baby bottles did you find best?

I'm due my second baby in July, last time I used tommee tippee anti colic and I hated them. They leaked abseloutley everywhere and the regular bottles gave him really bad wind.

I'm thinking either Dr brown or mam this time, but I hear Dr brown leak aswell so leaning more towards mam. What did you find the best or what did you use for your baby?

We used MAM and Dr Brown. We thought DD's reflux symptoms were down to wind so tried the Dr Brown for a week or so with no improvement. We got the reflux sorted with medication and have continued with the MAM.

I know people rave about the Dr Browns, and whilst they're nice to hold they're a ball ache to clean if you do use the straw thingy. The microwave sterilising feature on the MAM bottles is so handy if you're visiting friends or family for the day, or on holiday.

I don't know why the Tommee Tippee ones are popular; the teat is so broad it's hard to keep it full of milk and avoid them taking in air. We got one free with the Perfect Prep and I just put it straight in the bin tbh. I feel bloated just looking at them!

DS is 9 weeks and we are big fans of MAM. He has reflux but it's not too bad he is a bit colicky just now but that's on us not the bottles. They're easy to clean and I was at my mums the other day, realised I hadn't brought enough bottles, no drama because they can be sterilised in the microwave on their own.

I had various different ones with my eldest who had reflux, he got on really well with the mam ones so when I had my youngest I just used mam. I never had any issues with them leaking apart from once when I hadnt screwed the bottom on properly Grin

I used Dr Browns with my first and got on with them well but they took a bottle from day one. With DC2 it was much harder to introduce a bottle and only Mam did the job, but they've been great.
So if you're planning to BF I'd say Mam, otherwise either are good bottles.

We use mam They are fab.

Did anyone else not bother with the small bottles? Last time I bought large and small, and my ds was on 7 oz by the time he was 3 weeks old so they were only used for a week or so. Complete waste. Is it OK to just use the larger ones from the beginning?

Thinking I'll defiantly go with mam as everyone seems to be very happy with them.

Bloody hell my daughters 6 months old and only just manages 6oz at a time 🤣

SmileCheese · 24/01/2020 16:14

We got the Mam starter set which has been great as you can swap the middle part to the larger size which comes with the set should you find baby taking more milk so you won't have wasted money buying smaller bottles.

I have to say the Mam bottles would win hands down no matter what simply because of how easy they are to sterilise!

TheCraicDealer · 24/01/2020 16:28

Yeah the starter kit is great. Remember as well that with the Boots Parenting Club you get a free gift every month- either a pack of breast pads OR a newborn size MAM bottle and dummy. I managed to accumulate four free bottles that way before DD was even born.

GlamGiraffe · 24/01/2020 16:34

MAM, again here. Were given other bottle sets but they either weren't popular or made the wind worse. The mam are super easy to clean as you dismantle them too. I put them in an avent steam steriliser but you can microwave sterilise them without a steriliser.
I had some small bottles from a starter set but generally use the larger bottles. Small ones are useful for topping up water if you have a formula fed or small baby but you get more use from large bottles.

amazedmummy · 24/01/2020 16:35

I got the starter set at a good price on amazon. We've only just gone on to the bigger bottles at 8 weeks.

lauryloo · 24/01/2020 16:36

MAM bottles here worked well for both my babies, expecting a 3rd so will use them again this time round

Derlei · 24/01/2020 18:00

MAM on both occasions! And I tried lots of others, mam wins hands down. If you get the packs, be mindful of the teat sizes. I'm sure my starter pack came with size 2s, baby is 8 weeks and still on size 1, which was had to buy seperately

SuperDuperJezebel · 24/01/2020 18:02

I used Avent, because I'd worked as a nanny for a long time and it was what I'd always used at work. I'm not a fan of the mam ones, it's probably me being an idiot but I always found them so leaky!

Mashaandthebearr · 24/01/2020 19:25

20viona yeah, ds was a huge hungry baby. He's 14 months now and in size 2-3 clothes.. His appetite has calmed down a lot though 😂

TheCraicDealer
That's a great idea I didn't even think about that! I'll probably just go with the big bottles so and get the newborn ones that way.

Looked on amazon there, they have pretty good deals on the larger bottles, and I don't have to leave my house, always a bonus!!
