Extremely exhausted

I'll start this by saying I know everyone is tired when they have a baby, I'm under no illusions about that. However this feels more than just baby tiredness - especially considering she's six months old, and sleeps through from between 8-11pm until 9/10am and I go to bed between 10 and 11pm. I could easily sleep until 12 in the afternoon though, and need a nap a couple of hours later that lasts at least two hours. It often happens when my partner is off work that I'm constantly in and out of bed all day. Is this normal? It doesn't feel like it's normal?
So as to avoid drip feeding I do have a family history of thyroid issues, both under and over active so I have been thinking it could be this, but I don't want to walk into the doctors office and be laughed out because I'm being a drama queen.

I was the same after having my DD. It took me about 18 months to get back to normal and that was after a concerted effort to drink more water, eat well, take a multivitamin and high dose vitamin D every day. Worth getting your levels checked regardless, childbirth takes a toll on your body!

How are your iron levels? It can be quite common for women to become anemic after giving birth. I would go to the GP and ask for a full round of bloods to be tested such as iron, thyroid, vit b12, vit d, liver function etc. If they tell you that your results are normal you still need to ask for the exact results as if you are right down at the bottom end of “normal” then you will still need treatment to feel properly well.

I was anemic during pregnancy, but no blood tests were done afterwards to check my levels again, I'd totally forgotten about that 🤦‍♀️ doctors appointment is being made to get that checked then because this honestly feels abnormal. I woke up at 9:30, and I'm ready to go back to bed already. Thank you 😁

The range is something like 12-200 and you will be told you are at a normal level even if you are down at 12. Neurological symptoms can start happening when your levels are at 40 though so anything less than that will make you feel like the walking dead.

Thyroid probs are quite common after having a baby. Sounds like there are various things it could be, so def worth seeing the GP and in the meantime maybe even starting to take some some iron might help
