How much did your last period cost?

Out of interest, what did your last period cost you in monetary terms? Including san pro, pain killers, time off work, ruined clothes and anything else you had to pay for? I had a conversation about period poverty the other day, but those involved have reusable san pro, not particularly heavy periods, etc, so didn't really 'get it'. I thought a cross section sample from a lot more women would be a bit more representative. Also wondering what other costs, in addition to those above, have been missed out

6x night pads(roughly 15 inches) about £2.50 each from aliexpress
About 10-15 shorter pads. Mix of Aliexpress specials (£2 each) plus some more expensive ones(between £8-10) which were made in the UK by sellers
Some thin and light pads which are fairly useless for anything else but the last day or so. £1.80ish from Aliexpress
Plus pantyliners from various sources- some aliexpress, some UK made.

I havent accounted for washing costs in this as I put them in with the everyday washing. Having a child with gastro/continence issues means I've washed a LOT worse than a few pads in my washing machine.

£2 on stained knickers I had to throw away

£1 on painkillers

50p on wet wipes and nappy sacks

£3 on sanitary towels.
I purchased black pants for periods a while ago so I didn't keep ruining my other underwear.

Not sure how much a shower costs?

I had san pro but needed feminax extra plus bought a packet of paracetamol and a packet of ibuprofen so £6 in total plus had to get the bus to to work/home as legs couldn't physically work (endometriosis) on the first day, so an extra £3 plus the chocolate that I scoffed.

Basically pain killers + bus money for day 1 of a 4 day period and luckily nothing more so £7

Nothing now as I use a cup and period pants as back up but before I started using them I would use a full box of heavy tampons and most of a box of light ones, plus a pack of pads for back up each period so well over 10 euros each month.

I'm one of the designated safe guard leads at my school of around 800 girls. I'm waiting for my activation code to come from PHS Services, who have got the tender from the Government for the Period Poverty programme.

I can't tell you how many girls it's going to help at my school. So many girls come to school, without products, without knowledge of what's happening to their bodies and without the financial means to get products for themselves.

Not much, pennies but that's still a lot to those with nothing. When I had a newborn I had absolutely no money for maternity pads as everything went on baby. I used to chop his nappies up to put in my knickers as that's all I had in.
