Anyone got one? What do you think of it?
Want a ball pit for my sons birthday that I can leave out - these obviously look good- but how are they for actually playing in? Son is going to be 1

Personally I think it's a total rip off. Very 'instagrammy' but are you sure you actually want one that's out all the time? Even a one year old tiddler will get bored of the same old same old. I'm a big fan of putting toys and equipment away and getting them out now and then for the novelty value. Personally, for a ball pit, I use an inflatable paddling pool. It can be compressed and put right away when not in use (admittedly, there are a couple of giant sacks of balls that can't, but if you have a garage pop them on a shelf in there and you're sorted). It's so much bigger it can be used for all ages (well, up to 6/7!) and if it's put away in between times it's an absolute lifesaver in terrible weather when you really can't leave the house. It's a big hit when their friends come round too, you can more or less guarantee an hour of play with the ball pit and fold away slide, and it means they're not getting every single toy out and scattering them around the house. Plus with a paddling pool you can actually use it as a paddling pool in the garden come summer too! Obviously a one year old can't be using a slide (I definitely recommend a folding one for 18 months+ though, ideal Christmas present!) but before he's old enough for that you can make an climbing structure out of sofa cushions for him to scramble over to get in and out. Heaps of fun. With a proper sized paddling pool you can get in too and do some safe rough and tumble. He can really move about and develop his physical skills and co-ordination, and (yay!) burn off any excess energy.
