www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51209197 Dementia, poor man. Only 77, which is no age. Condolences to his family and to the other surviving Pythons. Particularly sad for Michael Palin, his writing partner.

I just heard this. Very sad news - read a couple of his children’s books before I ever heard of Monty Python, so aware of him for a long time.

MulticolourMophead · 22/01/2020 13:24

Sad news.

mencken · 22/01/2020 13:27

I'm afraid 77 is actually quite old, and he had dementia. But still a sad day, what a genius.

I agree. I also sympathise because his loss is a sad day.

Sad

I loved his documentaries as well as the rest especially one on time.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 22/01/2020 13:33

RIP Terry. Flowers

SeaViewBliss · 22/01/2020 13:33

So sad. I am reading the Michael Palin diaries and they always come across as having a really lovely Friendship from very early on.

Mayomaynot · 22/01/2020 13:33

Sad news.

MillicentMartha · 22/01/2020 13:38

Oh dear, that is sad. That means that many of my childhood stars are near the end of their lives. It's not 'before his time' like Rik Mayall etc but it makes me realise how old I'm getting.

WateryFowls · 22/01/2020 13:42

Very sad news although not unexpected. I love the way Michael Palin talked about him, they had such a lovely friendship.

RIP Mandy Mother of Brian.

Perhaps it's the kindest thing as life with dementia is hell on earth.

MadeleineMaxwell · 22/01/2020 15:05

He was a very naughty boy. And quite possibly one of the best of us.

Drabarni · 22/01/2020 15:07

How sad Sad May he RIP
Very funny man.

Saucery · 22/01/2020 15:09

It was heartbreaking to see what dementia had done to him. RIP Flowers

TheMadGardener · 22/01/2020 15:10

Sad He seemed like a lovely man.

ChanklyBore · 22/01/2020 15:17

That’s very sad, he seemed like a lovely man and his work brought lots of joy.

Bit baffled at 77 being “no age” though. Round here that would be termed “a good innings”.

I’d be happy to get to 77 I think.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/01/2020 15:19

I will be having a 🍷and quite likely a little cry in front of Monty Python's Best Bits tonight. My DC will be sad too, they've been brought up on Python, as was I. He was a true comedy legend.

Candleabra · 22/01/2020 18:24

So sad. Same dementia my mum has. Bloody awful disease and dreadful for the family. I hope they can remember the good times.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 22/01/2020 18:34

I met him at a special showing of The Holy Grail once about 20 years ago. He did not disappoint and was everything you'd expect - jovial, self-deprecating, ridiculous, ever so slightly inappropriate.

He deserves immortality purely for the line "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"....

Sad day....
