The mass of the Earth hasn't really changed much since its formation

Stemmed from a conversation with DS about conservation of mass.

Basically, all the atoms in the Earth are just recycling themselves. They've been here since its formation, and before that, they came from stardust. Then just moving around the Earth. Forming life. Rocks. Water. Oceans. Atmosphere.

Fascinating.

It's pretty much true that the Earth's mass is constant, but some processes (decay and meteors) means it's not quite true. archive.briankoberlein.com/2015/12/15/is-earth-gaining-mass-or-losing-mass/index.html

But it is fascinating. Each of us is made of atoms that have been in stars, then rocks, plants and other living creatures. Every drop of water you drink contains molecules that passed through the bodies of countless other animals and people over the history of the Earth. And there's some calculation that every breath you take includes molecules of gas breathed out by Julius Caesar's dying breath. (I don't know why Caesar, but it always seem to be him used to illustrate the point Grin ).

Indeed we do, which makes the claims of homeopathy even more ridiculous.Grin.
It does show how we are all interconnected with all other living things. Assuming you are of European descent, did you know that you are a descendant of Charlemagne?
