Has anyone (successfully) removed anti-glare coating from glasses?

Stupidly I had asked for anti-glare coating on my plastic glasses a couple of years ago, they have got scuffed and i wish I hadn't bothered.
There are some sites that suggest using acid to remove the coating but opticians don't do it and I have no idea where to get the acid.

Had anyone tried and succeeded? How did you go about it?

It just does not work, trying to remove it that is. Coatings can break down after time, especially if it was ,,
A cheap job initially. If they are a few years old you must be due a further sight test. Acid does not mix well with plastic so please do not try it

No way can you remove the coating and have the glasses in any kind of useable state afterwards! You would a new pair.

Ok, thank u, I have booked a test.

Just as well I didn't get as far as looking for acids mentioned on internet, I felt it was a bit dodgy.

It's do-able if you have polycarbonate lenses. Armor glass Etching cream will remove the old coatings. It saved my old glasses so I now have a spare pair in the drawer. I have had an eye test, my prescription is the same, I got my new glasses from Glasses Direct for £29 so was happy to spend £10 on the etching cream!

Thank you @JigsawsAreInPieces, that's my thinking, to have them as a spare, might give it a go.
