If you would consider selling your house to a buyer who put a note through your door...

What would be the wording that may persuade you the buyer was serious, and worth contacting?

We'll use local agents too but are also keen to see if there are any leads for people who are maybe thinking about selling and might be convinced by the thought of no estate agents fees.

Would you focus on the human side (young family, would love a well loved family home to raise our children in) as well as facts (in a position to proceed/under offer or not, mortgage in principle agreed etc), or just very short, sweet and to the point?

My sister got her house that way. She had her eye on a house with a for sale sign on but it was taken down a few days later and she couldn't remember the name of the agent. I suggested she put a note in the door stating her interest in buying and she ended up getting it.

My in-laws bought a house on the strength of a note. It was mainly facts (ability to proceed etc) but then also a bit of the human touch (what they thought would be the benefits) plus promises of it all being above board (get estate agents in to value and discuss the various valuations) and a bit of buttering up (lovely house) etc.

Do people really decide who to sell their house to on the basis of what the family is like?

I’m about to put my place on the market and honestly don’t care if the buyer is a developer that knocks my place down to put up flats. In fact it would be great payback for my awful neighbours who have basically bullied me out of the street Grin
