I'm having to give myself 2 injections a day, post-operation last week, and it's just horrible.

I'm doing it into the fat on my stomach (I had a stomach op) but are there any tips for making it less yuck?

It doesn't hurt that much, but it's such an alien thing to have to do, that I really have to build myself up to it. shudders

I'm doing this for a fortnight after an op on my calf. Ugh it stings, I have to work up to it but if I am very purposeful I can do it in seconds!

Peel pack, grab syringe, yank off cap, pinch a big bit of skin/fat on my stomach (preferably under the navel, above it seems to sting more), quick jab in at 90 degrees, press plunger slow and steady, once empty hold with needle in for 3 or 4 seconds, whip it out, chuck in sharps box. Groan dramatically for 20 seconds with the burning, get no sympathy.

I hate it and my DH can't even watch, let alone help!

Don't hesitate or fanny around if the needle is as thin as the ones I had or you could bend the needle.

Deep breath and get on with it.

I completely bottled it and didn't do it after the midwife stopped coming a few days after we got home Blush

I had to do it recently for a month post op. I found warm hands (my hands are always cold), grab a big lump of flesh and hold it firmly then push the needle in slowly. I was tensing up waiting for the needle which wasn't that bad it was the actual fluid that stung. I do sympathise with you OP

I injected daily for over five years (for MS) and in the early days I used a heat pad on the injection site before and after injection which helped.
