Will they then just make me go to a&e and wait hours?

Why send you to a&e? I think they'd just send you home.

tmh88 · 20/01/2020 13:32

I don’t think they’d do anything to be honest, I think loads of people have this at the minute. I know I do anyway haven’t felt right in weeks now!

What makes you think it's not just a normal virus? How long have you been ill?

MrsCollinssettled · 20/01/2020 13:39

They will:
A) tell you that you have a virus
B) tell you that antibiotics will have no effect
C) send you home
D) tell you to come back in 3 weeks if there is no change

Meandyouandyouandme · 20/01/2020 13:42

I went to A&E with severe stomach pains and flu like symptoms, I had a very large twisted ovarian cyst, and needed surgery. I’d felt bad for a few days and only went to the hospital when the pain was unmanageable. How bad is your pain?

Hoik · 20/01/2020 13:45

It depends on the type of abdominal pain, other circumstances (e.g., preexisting conditions, recent surgeries, etc), type of 'fluey' symptoms, and so on.

None of us here can diagnose you or give appropriate medical advice. If you feel you need to see a doctor then you should see one regardless of not wanting to be sent to A&E.

anothernamejeeves · 20/01/2020 13:49

Because the pain is very low and both sides. I have had this before and they took bloods which showed infection (no idea where from) and said they would do a follow up scan but that never happened.
For extra info I'm having prostap injections so am in chemical menopause whilst waiting for hysterectomy for endo
My back and legs are agonising also but I've had no vomiting or diarrhoea

Have you got a temperature?

Hoik · 20/01/2020 13:50

Go see your GP, they sound like symptoms that need checking.

ScribblyGum · 20/01/2020 13:52

With the symptoms you have described plus ongoing medical issues and treatment, a GP appointment would be appropriate.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 20/01/2020 13:54

Flu symptoms is stay at home, don't spread viruses to those in the waiting room, your gp will say rest and fluids.

Abdominal pain with ongoing medical concerns is GP unless its agonising pain that cannot be reasonably managed with OTC analgesics.

gamerwidow · 20/01/2020 14:00

I know the idea of going to the GP and ending up in A&E isn't great, it's not the way anyone would choose to use their time. Given your medical history though it would be silly not to seek advice from GP. If you end up in A&E its because they think you need to be there.

anothernamejeeves · 20/01/2020 14:07

Ok will make an appointment

I was about to say have you considered endo. I have severe endo and would seek medical advice if you can’t control pain at home in your usual way. Good luck. X
