Electric dehumidifier

Tomorrow our electric dehumidifier arrives.
We've never had one before but we need one .
When is the best time to run the machine ?
For how often ?
Also do we have to have all windows shut when using ?
Do we still air the flat every morning ?
And is it still best to shower with the window open and bathroom door closed or to close window and use dehumidifier after showering?

We don't have central heating.
In a rented flat with storage heaters in the lounge and one bedroom.
No heating in kitchen or bathroom.
And a oil radiator in one bedroom.
The outside walls are cold and need insulation installed but the landlady won't do it.
We dry windows every morning and air flat daily.
Heat as much as possible.
Open windows when cooking and showering
Don't dry any wet clothes or towels inside
But we are still getting condesantion happening.
Even now at 6.30 the windows are starting to steam up as it's very cold tonight outside.
No trickle vents on windows.

Will this dehumidifier be a huge help !?
It's got a 3 litre tank and cost 150 pounds which we've scraped together.

They’re great.

Use it for an hour or so a day in normal circumstances. Longer if you’re drying clothes inside or if it feels damp. Windows and doors shut when you use it, but continue to air the house when it’s not on. I hope it makes your home feel dryer.

We use one for clothes drying - it halves the time it takes to dry clothes and the house feels warmer and of course dryer. We use it in one room with the door shut.
