2% for me, it's nearly all agricultural land.

71%, we're in a central London borough. Although it's actually much higher in our immediate area, because we're on the edge of our borough, and although there are a lot of green spaces, they're on the other side.

bigbluebus · 19/01/2020 11:36

2%. 88% is farmland.

lazylinguist · 19/01/2020 11:44

2% built on, 44% farmland, 57% natural. I live on the edge of the Lake District- there's lots of sheep farming, but not much arable as there's a lot of land that's too rocky or steep. Plus of course lots of land that generates income through tourism.

mdh2020 · 19/01/2020 11:47

Too much. I live in N-W London and they are building high rise blocks of flats everywhere and all very close together. Now the Mayor of London has given permission for them to build 24 storey blocks of flats on all the tube station car parks as well as permission for 950 flats which have to be built with non-opening windows because of air pollution.

BettaSplenden · 19/01/2020 11:47

64% built on. 0 natural. Sad really x

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 19/01/2020 11:49

Only around a quarter, but judging by the howls of outrage from people who live here, you'd think we lived in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

They see any new houses apart from theirs (obviously) as a personal outrage.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/01/2020 11:52

33%, farmland 60%.

Sandwiched between the sea and the South Downs so the areas with housing are quite heavily populated.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 19/01/2020 11:53

4% built on. The local council has decreed that there should be 20,000 houses built in the next five years,

YahBasic · 19/01/2020 11:55

2% built on but 80%+ farmland and only 5% natural. Similar to where I grew up.

Both are known as farming counties, but it is a shame that we have to get in the car and drive quite far to natural land that can be explored, as opposed to having lots of green fields on our doorstep that are private.

Murinae · 19/01/2020 12:03

14% built on and 48% natural

Legoandloldolls · 19/01/2020 12:13

10%. But the downside recently of living in a area of outstanding natural beauty is that the non green spaces are starting to get crammed with pile them high flats in the market town. I'm in a village but I would rather buy on a well developed new estate than in my town centre. Because you never know what's going to be build next door of how that will effect traffic on these tiny market towns.

I dont commute now but if I did, I'd move to more establish bigger town outskirts. Rural leafy living is great - until mass development with no infrastructure starts. Not enough schools and half hours delay every morning on a primary double carrage A road due to congestion. Main line into London but you have to be a hours journey out of London to get a seat in rush hour.

Previously quite small town five years ago and gangs of youths assaulting people but no police to do anything but the big town with ten miles away has armed police sometimes on the street. I would rather live on the outskirts of there.

It's hardly living the dream

Legoandloldolls · 19/01/2020 12:17

35% is natural here. Greenbelt mostly but what isn't protected is being built on including farmland

EnglishRain · 19/01/2020 12:23

Built on 3%, farmland 92%.

ClientListQueen · 19/01/2020 12:37

TrashPanda · 19/01/2020 12:45

Oldraver · 19/01/2020 12:53

5% built on, 87% farmland, only 4% natural

AdoptedBumpkin · 19/01/2020 14:09

3% - I'm in a national park.
