What do my builders want? I got it wrong last time!

Had builders in for a week last time, I bought crisps/biscuits and was going to make bacon rolls one day. They didn’t eat any of it/want tea and coffee.
Have builders again for a week, what do I want to get in for them?

This thread is so funny and so British! I'd love to know what happens in foreign countriesSmile
We've just had builders. I offered tea/coffee when they arrived and biscuits then provided kettle etc to make their own. Until they demolished the outside tap and access to water! After that I made drinks whenever i had a cup which seemed to work. No homemade cakes as I didn't have an oven for months but i sometimes bought doughnuts/pasties if they'd been working super hard. Choc ices were gladly accepted in the heatwave!

Think you were completely over the top with bacon rolls and even crisps, tbh. They aren't volunteering on a community project, they are at work, doing their job - they will bring their own dinner.
I would offer tea / coffee when I have one, or, offer tea / coffee and a kettle if I'm not around

Mine went bloody mad for a crumpet but I only offered because I was making one for myself. I would expect them to be self sufficient regarding food.

Well I seem to be in the minority here. We've had a fair amount of work done on the house recently, all workmen get offered regular drinks and sausage/bacon bap for lunch. They've never been refused and always appreciated.

I had the rudest builder once ask me to make him an omelette.

Fucking hell! I'd not have been impressed, either.

With my cooking skills he would never have asked for anything again.

As of the first week of the new Year after I made the most awful stew I am banned from going anywhere near the cooker.

Everything goes wrong.

I mean well but my good is pretty much inedible

It was once suggested after an excruciatingly bad dinner party that in future why not get ready made sandwiches and cans of soup

I burnt the soup
