Do you ever stay in all day out of choice?

I have to stay at home a lot as I am a single parent carer and I find it very frustrating!

I am trying to look at the positive side of staying in all day today. Maybe if I worked full-time a day at home to relax and catch up on chores would be welcome but when I am stuck in the house I find it hard.

Do you often stay at home all day long and what do you do?

Yes I do.I have Cerebral Palsy,so at the grand old age of 55(!) I need to pace myself more so I can get the most out of life I also do the majority of my shopping online which means I need to stay in for deliveries too

Yes, I consider it a treat

No never unless I'm ill. We have dogs so have to walk them no matter what. I hate being cooped up all day it starts to feel stuffy and horrible. We don't go to many places or see people but we always leave the house. If I couldn't leave for some reason I'd still have to go in the garden for a bit.

I did when my kids were little.
By choice but I think social anxiety contributes to my wish to stay home.
Baby/toddler groups were utter torture so I didn’t go.
I would avoid food shopping for days and days.
Whenever anything to do with Frozen the film I have stomach pains with guilt because we would watch it over and over and go nowhere for days other than school drop off/pick up.
Warm sunny days we could have gone to the park, we were in the garden or watching films.

I’m a fucking horrible mum.

We’ve stayed a two home today. Dd and I still in jammies. She is studying I’ve done housework and dh is watching tv. It’s good to relax and have no plans at times.

With a toddler it’s like being stranded on an island with a bipolar monkey on drugs.

On my own it would be the DREAM. Housework done first thing, then chill out on the sofa with Call the Midwife.

I work 3 days a week and spend most of the other 4 at home. I have two under 3 and they're a nightmare out together alone so I prefer staying in, drinking tea and watching TV.

I love it!! I LOVE days where I don’t HAVE to go anywhere -once I worked out that I literally hadn’t gone outside the front gate in Over a month 🤣 (various things colliding, unplanned)

I could happily do that again.

But it’s entirely different to your situation of
I’m a carer to a disabled family member.

I’d be stir crazy in less than a day if I was forced to stay in. I used to have a shop and on days when it wasn’t very busy it would drive me utterly batshit having to stay there & I couldn’t distract myself with a book etc - though with the internet on mobile devices now I probably could 💕

How long have you been in this situation?
Why is it all down on you?
Is there anyway to get them out of your the house?
How long is this situation expected to continue?
Is it literally 24:7?

I would love it if I didn't have a toddler who demands my constant attention. I usually invent any excuse to get us out of the house.

PhoenixR1sing · 18/01/2020 17:23

I love being at home all day especially this time of year. I tell people I'm hibernating.

Morgenrot · 18/01/2020 18:05

I wish! DP is retired now while I still work. When I'm not at work he always wants us to be out doing stuff. I'd love a day at home just doing nothing sometimes.
