DSaged 7 lisps... What to do?

My older children both lisped a bit but once their adult teeth came in then all was fine. However my DS 7 still lisps. Ive spoken to him very casually a couple of times and practiced saying S with his mouth closed. What do I do?

How do you say S with your mouth closed? Confused I had a lisp as a child but when I went to drama school they beat it out of me by making me say "T sausages!" over and over again.

I had to kind of blend the T in with the S until I eventually "hit" the S. Took two years.

Does it matter if he lisps? Is it severe? Are we talking "Thauthages and Thauce? Or is it more of a sibilant S which is less severe?

Yes its a full on "thauce" lisp. That's a good idea with the T sausages. I'll try it with him.

Tee, Tay, tie, two.

That was the exercise I was given to exorcise my lisp!

I’d probably want to be referred to a speech therapist. In some areas it’s self referral, in some it’s via GP. Maybe check with school if there is a designated school nurse (similar role as HV bit for school age) as they would know.
