I am thinking of moving to the lovely Cotswolds.

Can anyone give any insider view on good places to look at please.

Must haves are:

  • Rail station - or one within 3 miles
  • Independent shops or market
  • Community feel
  • Local things to do - Pilates classes, health club, cultural groups and so on

Thank you Smile

The main thing to consider is long term jobs for your children and practicality. Many of the smaller villages such as Bourton on the Water, Moreton In Marsh etc are not good for School leavers or young adults who need to create a meaningful and successful career. The frustration will set in when they start to look for a solid, well paid job. They will end up renting far away from home just so that they can build a career up. If you are a family who like to be together then choose one of the bigger towns where you can support your offspring whilst they forge ahead with their career, They will thank you in the long run as they save their hard earned wages and not have to spend it on rent. It makes for a happier, well connected family.
The larger Cotswold towns and cities such as Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester hold some of the best opportunities and education in the Cotswolds and ensure that your child will not get bored from looking at stone buildings and grass when they could be enjoying a more varied life. They will also meet a greater cross range of minds who will inspire them as they develop.
The Cotswolds was always for the elderly or farm hands.
