I am in my last year of my postgrad in Occupational therapy and I just want to give up.

  • The nanny has suddenly quick so I have to spend the next few weeks finding a new nanny to help look after my son- this means more missed classes. facepalm
  • went to visit my supervisor and I have to redo my research project !! £@&
  • Looking around for new schools for my son .
  • I'm behind one assignment and I have no clue how to tackle it !
  • have to retake an exam.

What's the point ? I can't be bothered. Would have loved to get in this profession but I've just got too much on. Considering dropping out. I can't see the finish line.

Could you get an extension? I know it takes the finish line further away but it might mean you complete and don’t lose all your hard work, and do have a chance at the profession you want

I have an extension for one of the assignments. I have three months of lectures left and will spend the remainder of the summer term revising. But I don't know if I can do it.

You can. You can do it.

I did my OT degree as a single parent . I also wanted to give up many times. Keep going as the benefits are vast - Good salary , lots of jobs out there , new friends , yr child will be proud, u will be proud. The fight is worth it . Explain all to yr personal tutor . U can do this ( ps i failed nearly all my assignments at uni and had to resub so many but i got the best job on leaving as i understand the fight many people have to do things )

It sounds like you are having a really tough time at the moment. I'm sorry to hear that. But you are so near the finish now. Think of all the time, effort and I guess money, that you have spent on this so far - I'm sure you dont want that to be wasted. Try to grit your teeth and push through to the end. It will be a tough few months but focus on how much life will be afterwards. Remember why you started in the first place and think about what you will be able to do afterwards and how that is going to benefit you, your son and wider society.
Sometimes positive visualisation helps. Try picture yourself graduating or working as an OT for instance - this can help boost your confidence.
