To want to learn two new languages aged 48

So we live abroad in a country where French and German are the main languages.

I'm very keen to learn these properly and as a trailing spouse, eventually be able to get a job locally having acquired some level of competence.

I do not envisage myself being fluent at all. Just hopefully confident and conversant.

Dh thinks I am too ambitious taking on two - I have schoolgirl level in both - and should focus on one.

I have time right now to devote a lot of energy and focus on this language learning so I'm enrolling in a school where I will have 3 x 90 minutes of French a week and 2 x 90 minutes of German a week. Next term, I'll flip them round.

Am I deluded?

No, I think if you have already studied both languages at school, and they are both spoken where you are living, there's no reason why you shouldn't learn them at the same time.

Sounds like a great idea.
