I’d buy one near to where I live so I could temporally move it and knock down my current one and rebuild it bigger and nicer. Then I’d do up the newly bought one and rent it out until one of my children are old enough to want it. Oh and I’d better buy another house for my other child.

Hidingtonothing · 17/01/2020 13:47

Somewhere small and totally isolated, no one would see me for dust!

SandAndSea · 17/01/2020 13:52

OnlyFoolsnMothers - When you say 'fully staffed', how are you going to manage that? (Genuine question.) DP says the same but I think the reality would be invasive and unnecessarily hard work and I want a simple, easy life.

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 17/01/2020 14:10

Ooh, I might have to take your City crash pad!

Or I'll just move to Paris before Brexit...

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2020 14:12

Don't you think your main home is a bit overlooked? I'm shocked that you can spend 12m and still be that close to your neighbours

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/01/2020 14:16

SandAndSea well i definitely wont be working so should have time to liaise with those closest to me. IE. my accountant (Im assuming Coutts can provide me with one)- and ill have a PA. These two should manage the day to day logistics/ payroll etc.
All houses will need a gardener (not the city pad) and a cleaner....the chef, nanny and security can travel with me....so maybe not a huge entourage

StealthPolarBea dont think i personally could be so remote as to not have neighbours....it would freak me out

Saw my ideal house recently - it’s only £550k. In fact, if anyone does win and could spot me £300k, I’ll pay you back! 😂

Big enough that we could have sensory and soft play rooms for the twins plus safe bedrooms for them, opposite lovely gardens, right in town, near trains... perfect.

Would love a flat in London and one in Paris. Pre-kids I would have had lofty plans but can’t take them anywhere anyway!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 17/01/2020 14:35

DD lives in Surrey so I'll buy her a 2 bed house and buy myself a bottle of wine with the change. Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/01/2020 14:35

This one - fingers crossed!

SF1269 · 17/01/2020 16:05

WhatchaMaCalllit, that Enniskerry house is Chris De Burgs home. 😄

This one will do for me!

DefConOne · 17/01/2020 18:51

I'm not greedy and I've wanted one of these since I was a child

pineing · 17/01/2020 18:58

Dunno how to do links, but the first thing I'd do is buy the little flat for sale in our village, just right for adult dc who is still living at home at the moment.

After that, I'd buy land. I've got my eye on somewhere, and I don't want developers to get their hands on it. Probably cost me about £5m.

After that, I might have a look round the local area, don't want to go far though, and there's nothing in the 'big' price bracket at the moment Grin

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 17/01/2020 19:52

@DefConOne - I wouldn't fancy the walk to the nearest pub...

Whathappenedtothelego · 17/01/2020 20:05

my London flat

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 18/01/2020 01:12

Or maybe I'll just head to the South of France...

bws83 · 18/01/2020 02:29

Probably would leave the UK. Surrender passport, and migrate to Norway and buy a nice house. So I'd have access to great healthcare, subsidised private education and a greater sense of personal security. for myself and family.

And then a holiday home somewhere warm for the winter.

MymbleClement · 18/01/2020 07:46

There's a lovely house near me on Rightmove for 1.3 million so I'd snap that up. Then I'd buy a flat in Marylebone and a nice villa somewhere hot.

Lipperfromchipper · 18/01/2020 08:17

I have just designed and built a new house so there is no way on earth I would move because it’s my dream home and I love it....BUT I would buy an apartment in New York I think!!

Strictly1972 · 18/01/2020 08:25

I’d buy a larger house in the area we currently live in as a I love it, a house near by for my dad as I would love him to be nearer & more involved but he can’t afford to move, a bigger house for my brother & family & a house for my sis. I’m not sure I’d buy a house overseas but I’d use the money to go travelling although maybe Portugal would be nice as it’s so quick to get to from the uk.

ElGuardiandenoche · 24/01/2020 01:20

@OnlyFoolsnMothers I'm sorry but you cannot have the Cornish house. It's just down the road from me and I've had my eye on it since before it came on the market. It is going to be our main house, the £2.60 I won on the Euromillions will start the fund Smile

CilantroChili · 24/01/2020 01:39

whatyacallit pretty sure the 2nd house belongs to “celebrity” lawyer Gerald Keane 😂

MAFIL · 24/01/2020 02:31

I'd stay where I am, but get someone in to redecorate completely and put in a new kitchen and bathroom. It is actually perfect for us so I wouldn't want to move, but I would like to smarten the place up.
I would buy my DD a low maintenance flat or small house fairly close to her work. She is currently sharing a house with others and would really like space of her own. But she has a very busy lifestyle working rather antisocial hours and studying part time, so she wouldn't actually thank me for somewhere that needed a lot of maintenance. A smart 2 bedroom flat with private parking would suit her nicely.
