Center Parcs Netherlands

Has anyone got any recommendations for the best Center Parcs to go to in the Netherlands? We've been to one in the UK which we really enjoyed but I've heard good things about the European ones. I'd be grateful for your experiences! Thank you

I've not been in the Uk but have been to der kempervennen which i would highly recommend. The packages that you.can get for breakfast to be delivered are amazing value - we had enough food for lunch most days too. The only slight issue is that because it is one of the original.sites, the oldest accommodation is a bit tired. Clean but tired. So definitely select your location and find out which are newer ' basically the zones have lettees and A was built first. Also the customer service and restaurants are all great. Most things are in a central zone which has birds and fish which can amuse the children. Swimming pool is out of thisnworld. Writing this makes me want to go back

Ps - sorry for typos, i have a newborn asleep on me!!

Popfan · 17/01/2020 18:59

Thank you @LoisLittsLover (and congratulations on your new arrival!) Der Kemervennen is the one I've been looking at - it looks great. Trip advisor does have quite a few reviews though which say the accommodation is poor and dirty which is putting me off! I know you said some of it is old. There are many reviews which are glowing too though. The website seems to say there has been a refurbishment so it might be ok. In a bit of a quandary!

We’ve been to kempervennen too. Accommodation was amazing - stylish, modern and def not dirty- and we paid for the cheapest ‘cosy cottage’ or whatever it was called. Swimming complex is great. I think we went when the kids were a bit too young though as they couldn’t take part in many of the activities. They were 5 and 3 at the time. I’d go back again!

Miljea · 17/01/2020 19:29

My experience of Kempervennen is - shock!- 10 years old!!

Took the DSs, 8/10, June half term and it was great. We drove from Hampshire, via a ferry, overnighting, both ways, in Ghent, for a bit of kulcha; but we met a family from Hook at Kempervennen who'd done the tunnel and the drive in one go.

I can't speak for today, but a wonderful thing was the prices didn't spike like they do in the UK, presumably because they had Dutch, Belgian and German school holidays to consider, as well as UK ones.

The swimming pool and rapids thing was great fun; mine also did a skiing lesson (not that successfully....) but, like in the UK, book your bikes early. We also went out to the local town a couple of times for supplies and a meal or two out.

Back then, our accommodation was basic, but clean, but we didn't spend much time there.

HolyChickpea · 18/01/2020 00:04

Kempervennen is great. We saw the reviews about the dirty accommodation so went armed with cleaning supplies but it was fine, just dated. Make sure you visit the pancake place on the main road just outside. It's walking distance from the park and their food is amazing and cheaper than staying onsite.

Doubletrouble99 · 18/01/2020 01:11

We went to one near the German border. Can't remember the name if it was a few years ago. The facilities were great and was very good value for money. Only thing we found was that nothing was in English so our two couldn't go to the organised activities and we had no idea what was on where. Might be different now though.

sandgrown · 18/01/2020 01:29

We went to Kempervennen last August and loved it. The facilities were great. Our accommodation was clean and spacious but very "tired" . I believe there is an on going programme of renovations. Our older children loved the indoor skiing and the waterskiing. We did not take a car but it would have been useful to get to the local supermarket. We went to the local pancake house and even had Dominoes delivered to the gate from the next little town.

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 18/01/2020 09:24

Isn't landle or landal also a good branded? Never been but heard good things about them. Netherlands is however excellent country to holiday in with small dc and adults!

bruffin · 18/01/2020 09:45

I can't speak for today, but a wonderful thing was the prices didn't spike like they do in the UK,
They do because we always went last week of August because Dutch had gone back to school.
My DC were 15 and 17 at Kampervennen and they loved it. Spent most days water skiing and wake boarding.
Depends on the age of children as some carer to younger children better ie Erperheide has an amazing ball pit.
I really wouldn't worry about languages mu DC cant speak Dutch but loved the children's activities from when they were 4 teens.

Only thing we found was that nothing was in English so our two couldn't go to the organised activities and we had no idea what was on where
I really dont understand that at all. Been to Het Meerdal , De Huttenhaugte, Eemhof , Kempervennen and Het Heijderbos. Ds loved the Pepe TV characters even though it wasn't in English.

foamrolling · 18/01/2020 09:51

We loved het heijderbos. It's a smaller site but I liked that. It had a good range of facilities but I felt happier letting the kids roam. I've not been to der kempervenen though, although I have been to a couple of other sites in Belgium. Het heijderbos was my definite favourite out of the three.

Doubletrouble99 · 18/01/2020 11:16

Bruffin - Our two were quite young when we went and it wasn't the fact that the activities were in Dutch but that all the notices and leaflets were in Dutch/German and we didn't know what was happening where. We did try taking our children to things only to find we were in the wrong place/it had been cancelled or it wasn't something our Autistic DD would be happy doing. If I went now I would be forewarned and have a translate app. so worth OP knowing that before they go.

Nixee2231 · 18/01/2020 17:24

Kempervennen and Huttenheugte are the most popular ones and also in the greenest areas. However for the same price as what you would pay for a tiny, dated studio "house" with a tiny kitchen and no dishwasher in those two parks, you can get a spacious one with a dishwasher in the other parks.

Also, at Landal Parks, for the same money, you get a house twice the size thats been renovated/is new, with a bubble bath and sauna.

Landal Lommerbergen and Vennenbos used to be CenterParcs so they have the same tropical swimming pool, for half the prices.

Doubletrouble99 · 18/01/2020 18:17

I'd second that Nixee. Very good value.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/01/2020 18:26

We had an Eden 2 bedroom lodge with whirlpool bath at Kempervennen. Nice and modern, clean, everything we needed, quiet location. It was in the 700s numbers wise. We hired bikes so it didn't matter we were further out. The cottages near the market done were very dated looking and had an awful lot of noise around them.

Last week of August was half the price of Longleat even including the euro tunnel.

Do make use of the fantastic indoor, Real ski slope. The ski instructors were excellent and lessons were incredible value. I ski competently so bought a 7 day lift pass.

Nice beach by the lake was lovely for sunbathing and the kids paddled about. Yoga on the beach in the mornings.

Evening entertainment was rubbish but we weren't bothered anyway. We had takeaway pizza from the ski slope cafe, or simple food cooked in the cottage. We ate out in Einhoven for lunch once and there was a lidl very close by with the mini shopping trolleys for the DCs.

Excellent holiday all in all!

We will definitely be back!

bruffin · 18/01/2020 18:28

Also, at Landal Parks, for the same money, you get a house twice the size thats been renovated/is new, with a bubble bath and sauna

But you dont get very much in the way of activities onsite and dont get the pools you get in Centerparcs. We have had saunas and spa baths at CP.
Some of the Landals are older CPs that CP sold off.

FluffyEarMuffs · 18/01/2020 19:32

Where is the best place to book these wonderful sounding holiday weeks?? Their own website?

Miljea · 18/01/2020 19:39

We did, years ago- direct.

Miljea · 18/01/2020 19:42

I meant Kempervennen- booked direct.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/01/2020 20:38

Book direct at Center Parcs NL- phone number is on the website. The customer assistant I spoke to had perfect English and was very helpful.

FluffyEarMuffs · 18/01/2020 20:45

Thank you. It sounds perfect 😁

Nixee2231 · 18/01/2020 20:50

No you definitely don't get the great pools at any of the Landals except the two specific ones I've mentioned. They have refurbished alot of parks lately and I believe both of those parks include a lot of new houses. We just booked one with a sauna etc for quite literally half the price (300 instead of 600).

And as bruffin said you sacrifice on activities. We have seen the same CenterParcs entertainment a dozen times now and are not interested in doing the outside activities in winter, so for Autumn and winter we always book Landal for a much nicer and cheaper house. In the summer we often do CenterParcs for the activities, and because we won't be spending much time in the house we don't care how small it is.

CakeIsMyFavouriteAndBest · 18/01/2020 20:52

We went to De Kempervennen last August and I was worried after reading the trip advisor reviews (2 days before 😱) I needn't have worried, it was lovely, we had a VIP cottage (with the daily bread delivery).
Its smaller than UK parks but all the staff speak English, we visited the local town Valkenswaard to get supplies from the supermarket (only take cash or Mastercard debit) and even went on day trips to Utrecht and Amsterdam. Pool was lovely, kids loved it. It was so easy to book and get to we have booked De Eemhof this summer in one of their lakeside apartments. (Although kids want to go back to Kempervennen or Vosmeren (about 20 mins away) next summer)

CakeIsMyFavouriteAndBest · 18/01/2020 20:53

Oh and also forgot, kempervennen and eemhof are being refurbished over next 2 years. Eemhof cottages and pool will be complete by this summer (you can book them online already) so I'm hoping kempervennen will be ready by 2021.

CointreauVersial · 18/01/2020 21:04

Another vote for De Kempervennen; we had the nicest time there. We splashed out on one of the 3-bed houses, right by the lake, with the VIP package. We couldn't see any other house from ours, and it was clean and recently modernised (this was 4 years ago).

So much to do there! We particularly loved the skiing, the high ropes and the swimming pool. Four teenagers fully entertained for the whole week.
