How old for ten pin bowling?

Hi,

How old do you have to be to enjoy ten pin bowling? I remember having my 8th birthday party as a bowling one, but I can't remember if I went any younger than that. My kids are 4 and 6, not sure if they're a bit young.

Thanks!

Mine were keenest around 9-12. 8's probably OK. Think 6 is a bit young and 4 certainly is.

They will probably need those cage things that help them aim the ball. I don't think a four year old will be able to lift a ball unaided.

Mine are 3 and 5 and they've been a couple of times. They say they enjoy it but I think it's better when they're a bit older. Take them when it's quiet and where there are other things to do as well.

My daughter loved bowling from about four. That’s what she asked to do on her fifth birthday. She used the little cage thing and could lift the lightest one no problem.

Young is fine if going with adults, as maybe a family thing. You use the metal slide thing for the balls and have the buffers up for them. But not for just a group of children playing - it'd be too much of a faff.

DS beat me when he was 3. I told DH that I needed the bumpers up too Grin

DS's ball skills outstripped mine when he was 2 anyway!

My 2yo loves it. We go during the school day when its £1 a game, she has the bumpers up and I put the ball on one of those ramps, she gives it a big push and then cheers when the pins fall over.

I wouldn't take a 3 and 5 year old, no. I would take either of them separately! I would say about 4-5 is a good age to start. 3 they will need constant watching, and 5 year old will need help to roll the ball. Even with 2 adults it isn't really worth the stress.

We took our kids this weekend, ages 7 and 4,for the 2nd time. First time was ladt summer. They absolutely loved it. Yes the little one needed a help lifting the ball up, but she rolled it down the wee cage slide and was delighted with herself. It was a really fun way to spend an hour! One game was plenty.

DD’s 7th birthday party was bowling. She is very old in her school year so there were lots of 6 year olds. It was fine, many of the younger children used the hill/slope/cafe thing and the bowling alley put the sides down.

4 & 6 is plenty old enough. They can use the ramp and will love it.

Herpesfreesince03 · 16/01/2020 19:09

My youngest has just turned 3 and he loves it. He doesn’t even need that thing that you can put the ball on to roll down. He can pick up a ball with two hands and roll it down the aisle himself and he’s only tiny for his age

Herpesfreesince03 · 16/01/2020 19:09

Ramp I mean 😬
