What to do with 4 girls aged 4-14

I'd like to take my two nieces out for their birthdays. I also have two girls of my own. The four girls are aged 4, 7, 11 and 14. Does anyone have any ideas on what all the girls plus two adults can do around London that won't cost a fortune? I looked at getting tickets for The Lion King and we're looking at hundreds of pounds for 6 seats. Shock Last year we took them to the Science Museum which was a hit!

The Imagine Children's Festival at the South Bank? And possibly a London Eye ride. The Festival may be most on the younger ones' side but has a few interesting looking things in the running.
Was also wondering about a magic show. There's one called the Magic Cavern which is in a fascinating and little-known theatre, very small number of seats, but it recommends the show for 6 plus (google it).
Some of the Dulwich museums are also quite good for all ages (they also had a crazy golf and a lego trail on recently but not sure this is still the case now it's cold).

Thanks for these. I think you're right, the South Bank festival is a bit too young for the eldest. Also seems like the magic show has just finished its run. Looks amazing though.

Any other ideas gratefully received as I'm really struggling!!!

This looks good, but will depend on the 14 year old’s personality. Good luck.

How about a themed afternoon tea? Some of them are quite pricy, but we went to the Alice in a Wonderland Tea at Taj and children aged 4-11 were half price.

For new year, we met up with relatives and had a game of crazy golf at Puttshack and everyone of all ages enjoyed it. www.puttshack.com/blog/the-most-exciting-indoor-crazy-golf-london-has

In the past we’ve also enjoyed biscuit decorating at Biscuiteers www.biscuiteers.com/boutique-icing-cafe/biscuiteers-icing-cafe

Kidzania in West London - kid city it’s ace, the 14 year old can help the littler ones.

Are you all London regulars? We are occasional visitors and found catching the ferry from Westminster to Greenwich was great. Then the observatory, the maritime museum (is free) and a show at the planetarium.

I think a trip on the London Eye would have been a hit too.

PeaBea · 17/01/2020 12:57

Yup, we're London regulars so have done much of the 'touristy' stuff. Think my nieces have been to Greenwich recently but will check as this is another great idea.

Thanks for all the ideas - don't stop!! This will keep us going for years!!

Just an update. I called Putt as it looked fab but they told me the youngest age they'll accept is 7 so back to the drawing board! 🤣

One thing I liked was the splash sessions at the Olympic pool with big floats like a floating slide etc. This is not hugely different from big floats at other pools not in London though! You have to book online as there aren't loads of places on each session. All concerned (me included at the time) have the option of wearing a float jacket in the pool.

There is a 'treetop walk' at Kew Gardens but not sure that would hugely excite some of the older ones, and it is not open all year. Most of it leads through the canopies but there is a section where you can descend among roots as well.

Oh yes, and maybe look up the Chinese New Year parade that will be coming up (end January). Looks like there would be plenty to see there but specific to a few days.

Have you tried treasure trails or similar? www.treasuretrails.co.uk/things-to-do/london

Ooh, just spotted 'Lightopia' at Chiswick House - the pictures look really tempting.

PeaBea · 19/01/2020 00:46

Thanks. More great ideas!

School of Rock at the theatre? I got great tickets from Groupon for £17 and took a group of mixed age kids. It was such a fantastic show.

Tower Bridge experience - walking over the glass floor is great fun

PeaBea · 19/01/2020 19:34

I think a weekend matinee (as a performance that starts at 7pm will just be too late for a 4 year old) is likely to be expensive. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Loving the look of Lightopia. Am hoping there are tix!
